I'm quite new to the wfp and this is my first winter with it.
Got up at 7am this morning ready to go to work, only to find the water had frozen in the hose in the back of the van.
How do you guys go about preventing this happening to you.

I have insulated my van, hose not frozen inside as yet, on the outside it did, bottle of warm water sorted that out and turned on pump, did find when working if I stopped it froze at top near the brush.

i bring the hose in at night, and put my water containers in the shed.
but my hose is on a wheeled reel and is not bolted in, but if you used wing nuts and 2 bolts you could easily undoo it and take it inside.

I Bought a oil filled heater with a timer. I set it to come on for about 3 hours before i go to work van is warm and all the hose are ice free.

Start later when it's warmed up.

I fill a 25 litre drum with piping hot water and put it into the van last thing at night. I cover it with a blanket, otherwise it'd loose out the heat too fast.
It's not a great solution,.. but it's stopped anything freezing so far.

how do you heat it up? to piping hot?

Yes, I had a delayed start too for the same reason. I sometimes lift it out and put it in a shed that is protected from freeze-ups. Another thing I have done is to wrap an old duvet around it. It's never frozen yet while wrapped but maybe it wouldn't have anyway.

Sounds like if might be easiest to just get a heater and bung it on an hour before i go
