I just want to have my pole on my rack, but cant find the best way of havin it on there and it being secure when going down the motorway at 60 - 70mph

surely this way you have to detach the brush each time? that wont be any fun...
id just make up some kind of clamp to clamp them brush forward on the roofrack.

just use 4" soil pipe. Go into youre nearest plumb centre, tell them what you want it for and they'll sort it all out for you. Did it on my old van and two tubes cost me £45.00

Tuppence worth....
I use a bike carrier (made by Thule, i think).
It's got the simple loops that clamp around the wheels of the bike with quick and easy ratchet (spelling?) type fastenings that take a split second to open yet are very secure at speed, the other bit that clamps around the frame of the bike just sits flat and isn't needed... unless it's the weekend and my bike is up there!
It's cheap and purposeful - ok I admit it's not secure but who wants to pinch/walk off with a 6ft wfp in bright yellow?
