Hi All,
Just wondered when tds raises at what number do you replace it?
Please add on the poll and maybe leave a reply aswell ;)
-
I presume you mean changing the resin after RO
In the past it used to be as soon as 001 appeared on the reading but I'm thinking of waiting in future for 002 to appear.
Years ago I never had a problem with getting excellent results without using resin, just using water that had only been through RO. The reading from this was 005.

The reading with RO water can vary considerably ie weather etc,if you have new resin 000 allday long.

Jerry I am , but is got to 001 and tank is nearly full.
Just wondered if I can use it, will change when finished.

As soon as my resin hits 001 I change it, and the reason I change it, is because if there are any problems, the first thing you can rule out is your water.

no you dont need resin
-
my TDS reading is often at 007 or 008
i know some1 who uses it at 035 and they have little complaints
i await the " your a cheapskate and should change the resin at 001 " remarks
its not that im cheap, its just i only test the TDS every so often and then if i havent got any more resin i carry on, and too be honest the results are the same
-
I bin my resin when it gets to 60TDS
-
I'm not brave enough to risk it. I just change the resin anyway
-
I bin my resin when it gets to 60TDS
does that mean you have 2 resin vessals then wayne ??

I agree with Matt in doubling up on DI vessels. I have 3 very small ones in series. The first can go to 60 before I bin it. The second will probably be reading 25 whilst the third is reading 000. Haven't changed for a year now. I just remember to check the TDS reading on the last 2 daily or weekly. Using a 3rd DI vessel I get the maximum use out of the resin. Obviously it's more cost efficient than using 2 DI containers.
-
i guess your only usning DI though
my RO produces around 007 TDS
-
003 max any higher the problems arise
-
i only use a DI and i change mine when it gets to about 30ish.
Mind you i changed my resin the other day and it started off at 007. Does anybody know why that would happen? i always fill the canister to about 3/4 full

Your bag must have been left open for that to happen, even leaving it open for a hour will effect it. My kids did that and I was not too pleased.
-
i leave it open, but scrunched up. this is no good is it?
How do you close yours after it has been opened then?
-
my bag of resin has been left open since february and still get 000 when i change it , and only change the resin once a month
-
hmm, so what is the problem with mine then? ???
-
a bag like this would be ideal, or even better if the resin was supplied in a resealable bag like this one in the link, http://www.hazelvalleypackaging.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=109&products_id=121&zenid=4cc19f883cda1d786f91351f4888269f
