yes its true aint it . are jds comments true ? lets wait and see me belief is that its true on the earnings i can belive . the only thing i cant belive is that hes got 2 new starters with him who earnt what he said . we shall see and we must all be having a laugh at the coments me i belive .

Not everything comes down to money.
The ability to write, spell and comprehend English is surely a prerequisite in the business world.
Bad grammar and spelling of the mother tongue just makes a person look ignorant even though they may not be.
The sad thing is there are plenty of foreigners who can spell and write English better than many Englishman. :(

Not everything comes down to money.
The ability to write, spell and comprehend English is surely a prerequisite in the business world.
Bad grammar and spelling of the mother tongue justs makes a person look ignorant even though they may not be.
The sad thing is there are plenty of foreigners who can spell and write English better than many Englishman. :(
Spelling and grammer does not pay the bills, yes there is more to life than money, but in life you need money to do anything.
I do understand what you mean, I would love to be able to spell correctly and have good grammer, at this time I do not have this, it is getting better everyday as I type alot and also try and learn new spellings all the time, is hard when you write something and it is the completely wrong word, even though you didnt want to write that word, They did not label people when I was at school, I left when I was 14 for a few reasons, always had a business mind, I worked for myself when I was 8 collecting people trolleys at waitrose and getting 10p a time, some people that have a great education do not have a clue about business. This is not IMO taught it is in your genetic makeup.

Neil I did not take comments as being rude, I understand what you say, I am not to good at English thats what a spelling checker was made for and yes I was born here aswell :-[, I can relate to people on all levels better on the phone and face to face I admit, but as long as people understand what I write does it really matter if there is spelling errors and gramatical errors ?

A few years ago a friend & I posted on a County Council site saying we were teachers & bemoaning falling standards as a wind up. It included a few spelling errors & a sentence along the lines that we had to correct the majority of work submitted to us, at least 40%.
The fallout lasted for weeks with all & sundry commenting on whether we should have used this tense or that. Plus one chap was furious that, as teachers, we thought that 40% was a majority. We let it roll on for a while until we confessed to the spoof article when there were a few embarassed people trying to say that they knew it was false all along! Yeh right - you should have read some of the posts.
Contrast this with the recent article in the national press about a piece of text with all the vowels removed. Most people, strangely, were able to read it with ease.
Provided the message is correctly understood who cares about a few mistakes.

On a forum such as this, grammar isn't important, what's important is that all can feel comfortable posting comments and trying to get their respective opinions across.
However, in business, the more adept you are with the written word, the more professional you will appear.
I've seen written quotations that make me wince (not just in window cleaning) grubby, hand written scrawls on a piece of paper, littered with spelling errors and appalling grammar.
Or flyers with grammar that looks so cack handed. This is where your command and understanding of English is important.
A well written flyer may well get you business, ditto a well presented and professional looking quotation.
But it is bad form, even in jest to criticize the writing skills of others on the forum.

Grammar is very important on a written forum. How else are you going to get home the nuances of your message as you can when speaking face to face?
Plenty of posts on here have been completely misunderstood in the past (causing argument) and in worst case scenarios unreadable because of lack of grammar.

Everything else is open to criticism on here and sometimes quite rudely.
I honestly don't think a note on correct grammar and spelling is untoward but apologise if I have upset anyone.

I dont get upset about it, I learn from it ;) as should anyone that cannot spell very well and us that us use bad grammer learn from ones that do know how to spell and use grammer correctly. So Neil in a good way you help it is just some that say about this subject to belittle the person posting that cannot spell very well, I know loads of members like this they do not post on here because of it, I myself dont care if people have a swipe at me I can handle it, but picking on someone that cant spell if plain wrong it is a form of bullying, every time I see this on the forum I stick up for the person not being able to spell as I know how it feels, (is very annoying and frustrating)
