Spend all the days you're not cleaning on canvassing... And I don't mean wussy leaflet dropping... Actually knock on the doors and speak to people!

That is the best way.
People like to see their prospective WC face to face and it costs nothing apart from your time.

Wussy leaflet dropping ?? I do very well from this
I get most on my new custom online, and via leaflets and recommendation.
Recommendation is the best way ;)
target your customers first, give them a discount for every person they recommend, it is surprising how many new jobs you get from it.
Canvassing is the second best and does work, if you have the time.
my time is precious to me and is cheaper to pay others to do it for me, also it is a boring job and if you are no good at face to face sales and thats what it is, then this is not a route to go down.
there are loads of companies that offer this service some are poor some very good some cheap some expensive.
And people that say running a business is easy do not run a business :-X

thanks guys
must try harder
lots harder
will go door to door tmorrow after my appointment with the eye doctor
thanks again

It's a fact that door knocking brings in more business than leaflet dropping.

that would really depend on the amount of people in would it not :P
and if you want a fact leaflet dropping then going back a couple of days later and doorknocking brings in more business that door knocking alone. ;)
-
door knocking is always number 1 , just be polite , always smile , and look them in the eye when you give them the price , work your price out then when you deliver it to the custie add a 25% , and give them the high price but say assuming your going to be a regular customer 4 or 6 weeks i would happily clean your windows for , and give them the lower price then shut your mouth till they speak , works great for me .
-
thanks andrew
where should i start as a price starting point as i seen to be too low for some and to expensive for others
i usually price at £15 for a 3 bed house would this be to low as i'm based in swindon wilts
-
sorry alan
i didn't mean to call you andrew
would £15 BE A GOOD PRICE
where in the country are you

When you door knock you obviously speak to the people that are in, which is much better than just posting a leaflet through when they are in... The ones that aren't in you then post a leaflet through and then if you like return a couple of days later... On the law of averages that is a much better way of gaining new customers than just leaflet dropping!

Andy, I think I may have written that in a confusing way, I will try again, I know full well doorknocking is a good way to get customers, leaflets on there own get less business but still work.
leaflet then doorknocking a couple of days later works the best IMO, as they alot of the time the people remember the leaflet you put through the door, rather than just knocking cold. you can also quote on the people that call you from the leaflet at the same time ;)
-
Buying rounds is the traditional way of getting work, doorknocking etc has worked in the last few years where there was a shortage of wcs, now with the advent of wfp the slack has been taken up again, so we are back to buying rounds for new business.
you get the yo yo effect with most businesses.

sounds like your prices are about the same as mine but remember you can always negotiate and if you start high you can come down but obviously not the other way round , as another post yes if their not in pop a leaflet thru but always knock first , i am out canvassing tonight as it looks like it will stay dry.
-
hi alan
thanks for that where are you
