Title: Gloves
Post by: Londoner on November 18, 2007, 08:04:45 am
Its time to buy a new pair of gloves. My hands are in a terrible state but I have not had a lot of sucess in the past with gloves.
I don't know if its me getting older but I am really suffering this year. Now the question I have is which gloves are best? I work with WFP.

Just been a topic a page or so back. Large size, Omni orange fur lined, with a liner. (You dont have to get them from Omni) My wife prefers Glaciers.

Sealskins are my favourite. Warm, waterproof, breathable and still not so bulky that they interfere with the work. Plus, they don't smell funny like the unger ones!

Gul summer-weight full fingered sailing gloves. Wear them all year great to work in tough, breathable, light. Switch to their winter-weight full fingered sailing gloves for the really cold weather. We are thinking of stocking them as we've found them personally so good.

Been wearing gloves full-time on pole work now for about 5 years as pure water (it's too dry) and reeling hoses really trash your hands.

Er...water is too dry?? ;D

Sorry, couldn't resist! And I do know what you mean before you explain, it's just the way you wrote it made me smile :)

At the moment I'm using a pair of Stihl chainsaw gloves! No good really, not water proof but tough and stop carbon fibre splinters spearing my hands!!

In the past I've used the Omnipole gloves, though apparently you can get them for half the price elsewhere, so if I can find the link I'll go elsewhere and get them!
Where can you get these sailing gloves from and what sort of price are they??

Every time you've made a recommendation Alex I find that you've been spot on. Been looking for some gloves so may give these a try.

For all year use I use the summer-weight ones:

i allways use weightlifting fingerless gloves . easy to count your money and stop the splinters from carbon fibre .

I always reel the hose back in holding a rag in my hand - saves my hand and cleans the hose.

D'ho!!!

Ordered some from the above site on Sunday..........still waiting for them. I will give everyone my opinion of them when I get them. Never used any gloves before so haven't really got anything to compare with, but if they leep my hands warm dry and clean then they will be worth the £20.
