Title: pressure washing playground safety surface?
Post by: paulm on November 15, 2007, 08:07:56 pm
Hi Chaps, i'm after a bit of advice. any idea what i can use to kill moss on a playground safety surface (you know - the spongy type material made from rubber granules). cleaned it up last year with power washer- some idiot recommended bleach. which i tried to little effect, although it looked great when i had finished, the moss has since grown back. any recommendations on what i can use to kill it completely.

there is some stuff called algon you put it on with a watering can on a dry day it kills the moss and mould and lasts for about six months before needing to be re applied.

TRY byrotrol - I think thats how you spell it. Moss will reoccur if its a damp shady area, you need to remove the roots as well as the top. Can't you just book it in for the same time each year

hot tip,    i knew somone that did this sort of job years ago and they had the same problem, he put something down after cleaning it, some sort of chemeical to stop moss and the kids that were using this particular area started becoming ill.  they were touching the surface with this chemical on and touching their mouths.  the man got questioned and god knows what happened i have not seen him since to ask him.  be very carefull its ok to use with children. better still dont use anything and go back every year to clean it!!
