An interesting topic was posted on another board ref temperature when cleaning carpets.What temperatures do tm users use when cleaning carpets? As some tm operate upto 220C is it wise to use temperatures this high?Does high temp not equal quicker drying times?

I only got a portable with a 90c emersion heater.  Also heatexchanger when required.

IMO heat cleans faster, easier and drys quicker.  I only use high heat on dirty carpets even wool.  IMO if its worn and dirty heat isnt going to do much more damage that whats already there.

Having said that the 90c is probably more like 70c by the time it hits the carpet.

The other reason TM's needs lots of heat is that when it's winter and youve got lots of pipe out you can lose a lot of the heat.

Think youv'e got degrees C and F mixed up. My t/m goes upto 230 F (about 115 C). run it at that all the time except for upholstery. about 200F.
