Title: DI systems
Post by: Pat Purcell on November 14, 2007, 01:46:42 am
How many on here run just a di system (di ing water straight from the tap) and what is your tds
Just looking for the person with the highest TDS from tap that runs a di only and how much resin you use to purify how much water

Pat just use this....

The calculations are
20000 multiplied by litres of resin, divided by TDS into resin = Litres of pure

For me with 2 x 750mm containers of resin and 5 TDS into resin (from RO)
20000 x  1.5/5 = 6000 ltr of pure

If your just running water through a di use 2 di vessels instead of 1 this way resin lasts longer and the tds will read 0ppm. On rare occasions i do this if ive no water in tank and a custy wants a con roof doing or summat. You can pick up a new di vessel for about £30 on ebay

RO and di TDS 280 - 300.

Mind you, since Louth flooded the TDS dropped to about 180 ;)

Thanks for the responses, It looks like TDS of about 100 is where people start to find an R/O more practical

i have only been using my 300gpd Ro unit, the tap tds is 250 ish or less- but when filtered- comes out at 16 or 17 ppm and this has been fine- the windows still dry spotless, i will start using DI resin soon though to bring it right down to 000 just to be sure.
