When i started back in Feb i came on here for advice but being desperate for work i took on anything at any price. Someone said don't do anything more than you have to.
I cleaned a chatty customers house last month very pleasant chap etc. Anyway whilst i was cleaning he said "you couldn't just clean that facia whilst you're there could you?" and like an idiot i did. I explained that normally i charged for this but as it was my last job i would do it no charge. And today........you've guessed it "not today thank you". Like someone said - there are no friends in business. ::)

charge him double next time you clean. I got one of these today simalar thing they will get charged double next time, then canceled once they pay for the clean, every 3 cleans the same thing, now we are wfp it is costing me more time and this is not happening anymore from this customer.

Aint ya gutted that halloween has come and gone? If i wasn't busy bein out with the kids, i can think of half a dozen "ex" customers that i would love to have blitzed(egged). Immature? Childish? Maybe.........Would i have felt sh*tloads better???? You bet i woulda.

i may be the only one but if a customer says not today i dont just get rid, if they was to regularly do it then they would be told the price is for regular and would have to be changed for unregular cleaning.
I mean we are all working people and some jyst cant afford it one month or are having work done or going on holiday ect ect
All though doing a job for nothing is usually a no go a have a customer who asked me to leave them for a while and i knew them well they told me one of them was going in hospitol(got cancer but didnt know at the time) so i said i would do it free for 3 cleans and hopefully every thing would be ok by then.

Ronnie, I dont just get rid either m8, this one customer annoys the hell out of me, and is starting to make me show the side of me I dont like, so she is going. I like to be happy at work I always do a good job, some times dont mind if poeple say not this time then there are others that just IMO do it to annoy me thinking i dont have anything better to do also winds my staff up as they dont get paid either.

I'm not to fussed at the moment if people say Not this time, but i dont do extra work for free, i just charge them a reasonable rate and do a good job

Being very much a newbie myself I have done some work for free in the past and have not as yet had cause to regret it, however I am starting to make a point of charging for those little bits...lets face it we are business's.
I am happy to be friendly and curtious but I am now starting to 'wise-up' a little much of it down to this forum.
I do not think I will get my pricing perfect if ever but being lucky and not having to worry about having enough business has now given me breathing space to really step back and look and what and how I would like to do in terms of growth.
A little time to show off.....have met all my targets for 2007.....YEEEEEEEEEEES
Dave.
