Yes I do declare everything as I run an honest business.  I am even handed about it though.  I make sure that even the little business receipts go through for expenses.  I have receipts going through for less than 50p in some cases.

This site was great in helping me when I started window cleaning and a life saver when I went WFP

So many decent people have either left the forum or cant be bothered to post due to posts like this.

Rant over ::)

Some of the best topics are the crap ones  :D They get far more replies than the serious ones  ;) And i for one declare every single penny to the tax man. And christmas tips too. I'm as honest as the day is long i am, and it's encouraging to know that everyone here is as commited to giving her majesty's gov their fair share of EVERY hard earned penny we bring home. Remember, the more we're honest with them, the more they can  it away  ;D

Whats the point of not declaring everything.

To save £1000 in tax you have to hide about £3500, now how many times do you do this ?

How do you sleep at night ?

Where do you hide it ?  You cant spend it on anything but booze, even then you had better hope the tax man dont go sniffing down the local boozer.

I would rather focus on where my business is going rather than looking back over my shoulder wondering when Mr Tax man calls "Come in number 4"  because he will one day.

If you spent more time going forward and less time looking back, then you will go far.

Am building a business in a country that is not my original one....and believe that I owe it to my hosts to be honest.

When I was a sub-contractor in the U.K I hid money from the taxman and had/have no remorse...The U.K gov't and the clerical fools that sit in the background are choking the life out of the U.K....If I were in the U.K I would hide money when it suited me.

Your quite right Dave. But i do sleep well, when you work as hard as me its difficult not to. I think ive just got myself into a rut and difficult to get out of, being a tight arse doesnt help either. What annoys me is the fact that your tax money pays for the unemployed, addicts and general scum.
But i should pay ceasars things to ceaser. But scared i might sleep so well i wont get up for work!
Maybe ill make it my new years resolution.

JDmarco

If you need a chat,  i can help with Mr Taxman worries, (He is quite understanding)   email me for my number.

i will give you a plan of action,  which will work.

As for paying for doley's etc . I dont mind at all while they are on the dole etc they are not competing me with work.

I would rarther earn a lot and pay a lot of tax, than earn little and pay little.

You seem to have your head screwed on and i admire your work ethic, so i know you will go far , dont worry about a little thing like tax.

If you want a nice house that means big morgage, and to get a big morgage you need to show big earnings.

That hasn't necessarily been true in the past with the abundance of self cert mortgages.  Since the credit squeeze started recently, it would be harder to get one of those now though.
