Title: Anyone else fed-up with this job?
Post by: Jason Hedges on November 13, 2007, 02:03:43 am
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else gets fed up with this job.

Really busy at the moment but taking tomorrow off (Tuesday) because I've had enough for the time being.

Nothing planned just gonna chill and get some jobs done round the house.

Anyone else feel like this?

I know the xmas rush is coming, booking jobs like theres no tomorrow, just cant be bothered to do them!

Anyone else ever felt or feel like this or is it just me?

Might even go fishing :D. Feel like beating my 18lb pike record than going to work!

Kind regards,
Jason.

If you lose interest, you should consider moving on.............I have  -  over many years  -  loved the buzz, the challenge, the pressure of " the start up " and building for a couple of years, only to find myself, bored and always needing a new challenge.

But !  I have always retained an interest in this business and benefited from a steady income which has allowed me to do lots of other things.

Even now, at 62, I am still looking for, taking up new challenges and probably always will. Maybe you just need to do things differently.

Good luck, whatever you do, but I'd suggest you take a few days off...............get a last minute week in the Canaries and RELAX for a few days.

Gets some interests outside Carpet Cleaning, but be careful they can take over your life.

Jason, remember you just got married and that is a stressful time, making sure the days goes off well.
OK you had a honeymoon, did you go away?
Need another break, a holiday to recover from the pressures of the last few months.

Me, I'm happy
and I have other interests outside of carpet cleaning
carpet cleaning - yes I enjoy it, obviously takes a large part of my time but its not my life, its a means of providing the neccesities in life, and cause I enjoy doing it that makes it all the better.

Enjoy the rest of your day off today.

Hi Jason

It's a struggle to set up a CC business and then after a while it's a struggle to keep up with the work, can't win really.

It sounds like you need to do what I am doing, which is progressively becoming more expensive so I can have more time off and fish, golf, walk, drink whatever turns you on.

Cheers

Doug

Morning all,

Thanks some really good advice in there. I really appreciate it, was feeling so so low yesterday could have walked away while on a job (never felt like that before, really awkward customer).

Your comments have cheered me up no end ;D. Nice to know its not just me!

I've been burning the candle at both ends, working flat out, long days, weekends and some nights and it caught up with me. This after all the stress of getting married just a couple of months ago (thanks Joe forgot about that :o).

I think BURNT OUT is the phrase.

Had a nice lay-in and am gonna chill today like I've never chilled before 8)

;D Dennis, fancy a coffee later?

Thanks again all, nice to get support when your feeling down.

All the best,
Jason.

J

As you know I used to work in sales and after 10 years of it I got sick to the teeth of being forced to effectivley lie to people.

I now do a job that provides a genuine service and I do my best to be good at it. I would love to be really busy but I am not and have to be patient. Stick with it mate and remember when Jan arrives you might look back and think I wish I was busier.

Speak to you soon
Pete

Hi Pete,

Very true mate, theres me moaning about being busy when other people would love to be. I'm so selfish sometimes :-[. As you say come the new year I'll be praying for that phone to ring!

I do enjoy my job, meeting new people, different challenges, satisfaction when that stain comes out you never thought would! Taking a day off when you feel like it, its not all bad is it.

Sure beats my last job, working in a warehouse and driving delivery lorries all over the country for £200 a week! Thinking back to those days (only 4 years ago) I really love this job, I really really love this job, WHERES MY WAND, I need to clean the carpets at home ;D ;D ;D ;D

All the best mate,
Jas.

Afraid I can't come out to play today.  :(
Louise is on holiday for 2 weeks so we are busy in the bedroom  :-* :P :P ........... painting it!  :'(
I have to work bleedin' harder on holiday than I do working.
 ;D ;D ;D ;D

ps Just reread your post above:
was feeling so so low yesterday could have walked away while on a job (never felt like that before, really awkward customer).

I've walked away from awkward or bolshie people several times over the years, the nice people far, far outway the butt holes so they aren't worth worrying about.
Next time we speak ask about the woman argueing about where to park, or the woman who tried to tell me the price I quoted in the home the week before was too high before I started the job, or the job for Persimmon Homes where the cow tried to take her frustration with them out on me!

Anybody who says you have to take that kind of thing are talking cobblers.

Having said all that some are just sad and you just have to bite your tongue and get on with it.  ;D Oh well back to the roller and warm magnolia (same as ordinary magnolia but warmer - women  ::) )

Everyone's entitled to be a bit flat as times mate especially when you are tired and then have a bad day. We should ask all our customers to read J B Priestly's "An inspector calls". It's a classic and the theme is how our day to day actions can had a very negative impact on other peoples lives and create much sadness that we will probably never see the effect of. (In this story they do though).

Enjoy your day off mate

You going to Carpex?

Pete

Jason, having a day off should not be a special occaision, are you living to work or working to live?

If I work a Saturday I have Monday off, never do more than five on the trot!

Enjoy life a bit more!

Ok mate not to worry, another time soon.

Ended up cleaning a couple of rugs for a neigbour this afternoon!

Saw the van outside and came round to ask, didnt mind though they've helped me out a few times with different things.

Pete, sounds like an interesting read. Not sure about carpex, might be worth a day out eh!

Matt, i have a 7 year old daughter from a previous relationship and have her every weekend. It was looking at her photo in my wallet that made me continue on the bad job yesterday and bite my tongue (think of the money, think of the money).

Phillip, you're one of many that have said the same, I am going to have more me time from now on.

Thanks again all for the help today.

You've made me realise a few very important things, mainly theres more to life than work. And being a carpet cleaner isn't that bad ;)

All the best,
Jason.

Thanks Jason, Me and mine have a simple system - one day a week for us together, one day each for us to do our own thing, so I can chase half way up the country to watch footie for example with no repercussions!
