Title: Syrup Stains in Carpet
Post by: jeff1 on November 13, 2007, 12:12:24 am
Hi Guy's & Gals
Had an email from a friend today, and she asked if I could help with the problem below

My daughter was having a party outside one night and they had chocolate sauce for the strawberries (Hersey syrup is that helps). Someone spilled it on the deck (that was okay the deck is plastic wood and it washed off) BUT someone else stepped in it and then walked inside my house. There are chocolate footprints on my beige carpet. I tried to put down white paper towels and press it but to do anything else I am afraid to hurt the carpet. Any suggestions beyond using a knife or a bigger oriental rug ontop of it?

I don't have a clue, so told her I would ask the experts?  So hope you can help me out on this one?

Thanks in advance for any replies & Help

I would assume its dried by now, if you want to get it out yourself I'd get a vanish or 1001, moisten a cloth, lightly dab the stain then check for transfer onto the cloth, if you get some of the sauce transferring to the cloth then continue. Keep going until you get no more transfer.

if there is still sauce on the carpet lightly mist the spotter onto the stain and gently work it into the sauce with a a soft brush ( maybe a toothbrush) the start again with the dabbing.

the important thing is use the spray sparingly , don't go mad with it, take your time and work slowly it will take ages to do the job right

Mike
