Just a point
What's the TDS of your tap water?
If you have soft water you don't need an RO system & all the gubbins that go with it, just a simple DI vessel or for better resin economy 2 x DI vessels.

What TDS  do you think the cutoff point is as far as using just a DI system,

I'm not sure what the cut off point would be pat & it would depend on how much water you are going to be using.
These are my circumstances-

Tap tds 096ppm
2 x 11Ltr DI vessels
DOWEX resin (this makes a big difference)
Vessels shaken when tds starts to rise
400Ltr van mount

Using wfp most days but not on 100% of my work using the above equipment & method (shaking vessels) i go through 2 - 25kg bags of resin per year @ a total cost of 162 quid.

Thanks Macmac, Im not sure how the ratios work , but if you doubled that TDS to 200 would that equally double the amount of resin you use or is there a formula to figure it out

I'm not sure pat, there are formulas to work out resin usage but from the ones i have seen posted they way out from what i use.
Read the new post by jouk45 headed - doubling up di-vessels. it might help.

we ran a di system years ago , and the system came standard with 2 resin bottles,
Unfortunately we just pumped water thru it and when the light came on we changed the resin, never really got into the hows and whys of it , thus all the questions
Thanks again for the responses
