Title: Cleaning house carpets
Post by: richardc1983 on November 11, 2007, 10:14:32 pm
Okay i borrowed one of the Vax Carpet cleaner machines that look like an upright hoover.  I have parties at my flat every month and have to clean the carpets every other 2 months or so.

Well this month ive cleaned htem using hte VAX AAA solution, i used a scrubbing brush and some pre treater to get some worse stains out.

now i rinsed the carpets afterwards nearlly 3 times and even after the 3rd time the water poured away was still nearlly black.  How many times before it goes clear or r my carpets really filthy, there only 4 yrs old.

Ive also found they stink of wet dogs now they are drying?

Hi,

The wet dog smell is the wool in the carpet, it will go when the carpet is dry.

Using a vax machine is ok for a light clean. For a thorough clean you will need professional solutions and equipment suited to the job in hand. The vax machine is under-powered and the 'shampoo' will be a very mild 'safe' cleaning solution suitable for most carpet types. A professional clean should remove all of the dirt first time.

Get a professional in or if you want to do the job properly yourself get some training and decent solutions/equipment.

All the best,
Jason.

Get an airflow going or that moisture will go nowhere

Just noticed you got the same "Wet" smell two years ago when you used a Rug Doctor and at another time you have used a Puzzi to clean.

The appropriate advice was given then, so I can't help wondering why you are posting the same questions again and also wonder what you do for a living, this being a forum for carpet, upholstery window and general cleaning.

 ??? ???

Yeh i no but usually they have come up cleaner than this.

I was just stating the wet dog smell i know its just the carpets drying off and the smell has now gone!

For a living i work in facilities management, which is basically maintaining buildings and repairs to our customers properties and most of the contracts covers on site cleaning be this day to day cleaners or one off deep cleans.

Eventually though i would like to have my own cleaning company so i like to come on here and find it interesting to read through the forums.

Hope this is ok.

Rob,

I wondered the same earlier today in The Moderators section, after  reading Richards previous posts.

Richard I felt you were taking the mickey.

Not wishing to continue this , but in your capacity of facilities manager, your job is to hire all trades and services, yeah, so why don't you go on site with some of these providers and take note of ; - what they use, how they use it, which product gets better results , etc.

You have an excellent opportunity, to learn all trades and services, which you could put to good use, if you don't mind breaking sweat.

Know what your saying Rob!

Thats fine Richard,

Why the comments first time around weren't taken in is another matter.

Basic carpet cleaning principles stand whether it be 2 years ago or now. Using a vax, bissel, rug doctor or other mainstream dometstic cleaning machine the results will be limited, nothing compared to a competent professional cleaner using the right solutions and equipment.

If you want to pursue this line of work gather more information, take courses and aquire professional equipment. If not sub the work out to a company that can do the job properly and earn a bit on top for your trouble.

All the best,
Jason.
