Title: Drop in temp
Post by: *paul_moss on November 11, 2007, 04:31:11 pm
Looks like it will go to minus degrees in some parts tonight. Time to  start wraping the gear up again.

Take my machine, wands, hand tools and solution hose indoors on these occasions.

how cold does it have to get & for how long before it damages our equipment?

considering our kit is in our vans I would think its got to get to -4 before it gets dangerous

I'm not saying I'd risk it, but I believe we can relax if we forget to put in the heater once or twice :D

Only going to hit minus 2 here, thats why im just putting a wrap around the main equipment. But if it starts to fall colder than that then the heater is coming out.

I've found the same as you Mike. During the Autumn (now) and Springtime, the low temperatures are typically for a short spell in the night. I fould with my previous machines (drained pump, hoses and valves after each job) that it would be about -5C before I had any freeze up problems, so I use a heater down to -3C and bring inside below that.

Safe and happy wrap-ups 8)

I think John Bolton has it sussed he insulated his van which I think is a cracking idea as it's only a tin can.
