i did my first builders clean today and well it wasnt that bad but they are frustrating!!
you are looking out for evety little bit and then whenyou think you have finally finished the window you get to the other side and you can still see marks aaarggh >:(
have to go back for a hour or so 2morrow but i think i got a decent site manager who signed my scratch dissclaimer and my dissclaimer to say the work is carried out to a satisfactory standard!!(and i havent even finished yet) :)

how did you get the job???? was it a set of newbuilds or just one? good pay?

got a phone call from the a contract company it was a building that had been refurbed to a pub!
and the price well i gave them my price and they accepted it was good pay but i can see how they can be more hassle than there worth its just impossible to get them perfect in my opinion

I think the main thing is you have to overprice incase you hit anything unexpected, and this can loose you the job.
It's not something i'd like to get into at the moment.
Did you do the inside and out? and the frames and sills?
The one i did was for somebody i knew, god was it a pain.
I am Slow, but it still took over 6 hours

ye but the frames were scuffed and scrached!!
had to use a cherry picker(the main reason i did for some experience) but i can see how some can be worse than others!

You can get them perfect , but you have to charge the right price first.

I did my first one last week. I under quoted as it turned out. It wasn't too bad though and i hope to get quite a bit more work from them

well imagine you can but can u prevent scratching all together??
im sure you can but i noticed little scratching, i changed the blade regular and cleaned after scrapping.
little droplets of paint were a pain some times difficult to see :(

Even after cleaning thousands of windows on builders cleans, we were caught out today!!
What would normally have taken 2 of us about 3 hours ended up taking 8 hours!! The tapes on the frames took an age to get off, and left adhesive on the frames, which we got off using thinners, it was a pig of a job.
We noticed soon after starting that the tape had a warning printed which read 'Warning, remove after 5 days', it had been on there for a few months!
The polythene covering the sills had the message, 'remove immediatley after installation'. It came off in little pieces, a right job.
My advice would be to give the glass and frames a thorough inspection next time !!
