Web sites are someting that will please one looker but not another.
Have a look at mine, link at botttom of this posting.
The designer is shown in the bottom right corner of the home page (and others).
He did that for a very reasonable price inc. first year hosting and SEO

Be assured I have zero knowledge or skills in web sites but used the 1&1 system to do my own.
Ok I accept it's not to the layout etc that a paid pro would produce but it's done me ok.
I also did this one www.holidays-in-dorset.co.uk

Creating a website from a template is relatively easy and these days the templates are pretty good IMO.
Now I'm not into this very much thats why I paid someone to do it - but the website need promoting on the search engines to get it up the pages to page 1 - and close to the top of page 1 at that. Thats when it gets tricky.
Its ok having web address on your van, business cards, letter heads - but its when someone is sat at home or office and they want a carpet cleaner. Where do they go - paper directories maybe but if they go to the computer they are into search engines - thats why its imporant IMO to get someone who knows what thay are doing to get YOUR website up the ranking.
Me - I stick to the carpet cleaning!

My ecocarpetclean.info is one i did through Easily.co.uk and is template based. Done no SEO at all, just added links and it seems to be doing well on searches.
My www.strakercleaning.co.uk has been taken over by Mark Roberts ......... still under construction but front page draft is running........... he has done wonders for Spencer Davis's site at sdc.co.uk and naturalcarpetcare.co.uk    SERIOUS good value for top class service.  8)

Dan

buy an old one lots of people go under at the moment and you will not have to wait for it to work like any new site. if you cant do this then look for an old URL as Google respect this.

Diy websites maybe a bit like DIY carpet/upholstery cleaning.

If it looks good you were lucky!

But if you had got a Pro it might look great ?

Just a thought, lets face it, how do you feel about people thinking they can DIY your job and livelyhood?
