Is it the pole that's £285 + VAT brand new? I suppose that would be about £50 worth of VAT making about £335. I suppose £35 off for 6 weeks ownership isn't too bad but I would imagine that depreciation is greater than that.
Is it the same pole or have I got the wrong one?

Not sure what you've seen or where as the 28' hybrid is £285, BUT this is the 31ft, from Gardiners:
£300 plus vikan mono-filament @£21.50 + VAT = £395 ;)

OK. That's why I asked because some companies give the pole length and some give the height reach and I wasn't sure which pole you meant. I know that Alex always makes it clear which is which. I've been unable to access the Gardiner's site for quite a while (more's the pity) but I got my info from:
http://www.essentiallypure.co.uk/products/product_display.php?page=universal_poles
It looks like the one you are referring to is the one they call the 30ft pole on that site. With the VAT at about £56 it would retail around £390 + delivery (I suspect that this is without the brush).
That does now look a better saving for being pre-owned. :)
I reckon it must be the same pole as I believe they are agents for some of the products from the Gardiner range.

Thats correct, it is the same pole. I think he's got a couple of the sizings wrong on that site. You can see the 30 and the 34' are both apparently 8 x 4'9" sections! But if you go up the page both the 25 and the 27 should move down, so 7 x4'6" is for the 31' (30 on that site).
What problems you having with Gardiners site? Having no problems this end ???

Yes I noticed that some of the listings are wrong. I think someone must have done copy/paste and forgot to make the relevant alterations.
As for the Gardiner website, I keep getting the page where it says:-
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings etc etc.
I've tried changing things around. The problem is definitely on my computer too. It's not my browser settings as I've tried 3 different browsers. It may be something on ZoneAlarm or perhaps the Windows firewall that I've tweaked wrongly at some point but I've checked everything I know and I've asked for herlp on newsgroups to no avail. Sometimes, my attempt to access the site causes a default to Google instead.
I've run this O/S since 2004 without a re-format. Maybe it's getting near time to clean up the drive and start afresh.

Sorry, what is your point? ???
Its ten pound cheaper than that at Gardiners, PLUS vat, and brush... ??? ???
I'm not making money, just trying to minimise my losses.

i can understand trying to keep your loss small, but the pole is still second hand goods and has got a value of 240 quid, at second hand prices.

Sorry mate. It wasn't my intention to attract what looks like criticism of your pricing. I was just trying to establish which pole it actually was. Still not sure whether to make an offer/bid or what.

well ive used these pole when they came out and would real recomend them, the trick to them is the come apart easy and you dont need to keep it all as one you can split it into two and put it together within a minute , so it makes it more flexible for residential use top an ground.

No worries Shiner, I appreciate your queries as you where unsure.
But as for others for mentioning my asking price, I point you in the direction of my intial post:

yea now i bet your gonna take it apart and see how light it is and how eas it goes back together save alot of time have in lots of different poles when with a little thought one can do it all, i also bought 8th section and slightly trim them all to make it more compact and if the first two section are where the most flex will come from, i trim mine down to the first section is 3 ft the second too 3an a half ft then next is four foot then the rest how it was, this really helps getting rid of the unwanted flex. also where tape would stop it i found make in a early warning mark with a marker pen let me know when i was near full extention ,this helps stopping wear on the tape. and cleantech do a good but cap range i found one for when it was in five sections and easy to come off , so i gould slip the remaining 3 sections on when needed.

Now without sounding like a total dunce! How exactly do you take it apart please?
