When i first had my T/m ( 18 months ago) I was very concerened about running the hoses across pavement etc.
I got a nice hose ramp from restormate and this made life easier, but sometimes if i couldnt park close to the property i would still get my portable out to do the job.
But i hate using the porty and so, eventually, i got the balls to just run the hose anywhere !
This week it seems that nearly every job was a pain to get access to >:(
So this week i have parked at the top of a cul de sac and run 150ft of pipe down the pavement. ( No drives for the houses on this street , very narrow road, no way to park outside without blocking the road)
Worked in a busy high st, middle of the day, and run 100 ft across the road and down the street ( pedestrian only ).
Run 100 ft up a street of terraced houses.
Dropped 50 ft out of an office window and then another 50ft down the street.
NO PROBLEM !

Chris
Wecolme to the world of truckmounting :D
-
if I can't see the van, I don't do the job.
I price them up, give them all the spiel then tell them I have to ring a colleague to do the job as I run the industrial unit which can't be used on their particular job because of the health & safety issue with the potential trip hazard,
then I ring a mate who uses a portable and he gives me a commission on the job.

Chris whats the longest run you have run your pro mount 20 from, does it make any difference in performance
John
-
200ft so far.
Cant tell any difference from 50 ft, but have only used 200ft twice.
Got another 100ft in the garage.

I cry when I get over 100ft, the unravelling and putting back at my hourly rate!
Shaun
-
Shaun,
Have you not got a Hose Reel ??
Paul
-
Yes but try untangling the pipe when you lead yourself backwards out of the house!
I would recommend cool cuffs though, very neat they don't pull apart when you are winding the hoses in.
Shaun
-
amazing how you can get places, got this job because building custodian wanted no one in building after 7.30 and office was open 7-7 so we did it during the day, and it was fine as most of the noise was outside 4 floors down!
You could clean next to someone on the phone.
-
Just to add as Paul has said. Amazing how you can get to places. Best, Dave. P.S. How do you make the pictures smaller????
-
Cant believe his luck!!!!!
If that was me the connectors would have come undone right in the middle and I would have spent all day up and down stairs putting them together again.
How long are your pipes (careful).
Murky
-
Murky, if you are asking about my pipes then on this job I think it was about 450 feet. Can't remember to be honest but thereabouts. The hoses will never come apart as mostly I will make sure a join is either tied somehow together or as these pictures show, are not gravity or force affected and so just stay together as normal. There is so much suction anyway I have never had a hose pull apart. With the solution pressure of a truck mount you wouldn't be able to pull apart a solution hose either.
Best, Dave.
-
hells teeth dave, that's the last place i would tether vac and sol hoses to, i would have nightmares about the tap coming off and water everywhere!!!!
colin
-
cbt, I understand what you are saying but if you look carefully the tie to the tap is purely to keep the hose off of the tiled cill. The weight and any force of the hoses is being taken out of view. Point taken though, maybe I will tie it off somewhere else next time.
Best, Dave.
-
Dave this is all what you were saying to me about taking absolute care of your clients property, well done.

Get some locking ones then! ;)

And there was me thinking of selling the corner guards, cant see any warring signs though! Dose a cone cover all angels
Len
-
Len, where would I use the warning signs? There are cones all around the vans. The building is empty on my request. And posted within the building and to the entrance is information of what and when I am doing the what. Finally the relative council/borough were aware that I would be there and granted me the road access to be cordened off. It really naffs the traffic wordens off. If the cones dont cover all the angles then I hope the above did, just in case.
Best, Dave.
P.S. I use corner guards just about anywhere there are corners, inside and outside. And yes I have guards for both.
Shaun, yes, just one of the things that you can do.
-
Nice job Dave 8)

Yep, yours free, gratis and for nothing if you want them.
Ideal for all the tall buildings in these parts. ;D
I found a picture of the actual ones.
-
I love the cool cuffs I bought, when I'm pulling in the hoses they stick together, sometimes when they are stuck one hard heave and you end up on your backside when they detatch.

Nice one Dennis, thanks!
Heard they're gonna build some lovely new high rise council flats just behing yours, will be handy when they're up ;D
-
holly moo cow ! looks like theres no job to tall for you !
loveing the look of the pipes going up the wall is the t.m. in a lwb sprinter ??
-
Yes it is LWB sprinter. The truckmount frame is 4ft wide by the width of the van so I lose a lot of space. Any other van is just way too small. The lwb transit is the same size as a mwb sprinter.
Best Dave.
P.S. with regards the height. In the states you arent aloud to use a truckmount with hoses outside the building of any thing greater than 7 stories. Not sure what or if there are restrictions here. The pictures I have shown are of 4 stories but I have gone to the 6th floor when cleaning other parts..... I think the picture of Pauls set up is 4 floors too.
The machine is quite capable of cleaning 5 or 600 feet from the unit so can clean quite a few floors high. Granted it is close to its limit but neverthless even at 600 feet still has more recovery "power" than any portable. 600 feet has very little if any at all reduction on the volume and pressure of the solution. With a fuel burner for heat it has no reduction of heat over the 600 feet either............
-
could you post a pick of the inside of the back please ive just got a 4 meter sprinter and looking to see what it may look like kitted out
-
I cant post pictures today because I am not on my computer. When I am at home I will post the pictures you need.
There are pictures posted on here in different topcs of the back and inside of my van. Maybe someone knows where they are and how to get them up. Other than that when I can I will post the pictures.
Best, Dave.
The first thing you need to do to your van before anything else is to insulate it. The walls, sides and back doors.

Dave
In a claim society, only a few years ago a burglar got £3/4mil in compensation. ??? >:(
Fantastic pictures by the way.
Len
-
Len, not sure what you mean. Compensation for what? Best, Dave.
P.S. Someone has asked me why I have pictures of my hose runs. I picture every job that the client will allow me too.
I send a cd of pictures of how I did everything as well as pictures of before during and after the clean. This accompanies the invoice.

Dave
I believe for falling of a roof.

1stclean, hope this helps ok. Best, Dave. P.S. I have no idea how to make the pictures smaller.

last one, honest, Best, Dave.
-
many thanks got some idears from your van loveing the reel on the roof ;D defo be looking in to that , im looking in too getting a cage for the rear to stop peope getting in
i will be able to leave the doors open even when out of veiw whats on the floor of the van ???
-
Altro safety flooring. It is brilliant but it is very heavy. It is capped and coved up the sides for obvious reasons. Alltec do a spray finish for the sides of vans to make them water proof. Not sure what they do to the floor. Maybe the same thing. But I like mine...... Best, Dave.
-
looks a bit girlie to me!
I like my van to have the 'assault course' look with lots of things to trip over :D :D
and a nice wet floor from all the spilt chemicals that I just through into the back ( shelves are for wimps)
I don't know how you have the nerve to show such pictures.

Hi Dave,
Nice set-up!
One question, why do you have the same (male-male / female-female) connections on the end of your solution lines? Surely having one of each would be better.
I have a male and female at each end of my hoses with female connections on the machine and females at tool ends, obviously with male connections on all tools?
Makes for mostly shorter hose runs!
Kind regards,
Jason.
-
Maybe the pictures are a bit misleading but all my hoses are male one end and female the other end.
Best, Dave.
-
Yer Jas even I can see that you gossy rat. Put yer glasses on ;D
Dave Nice set up.
And I have found out the secret of the rug fringes 8)
-
I can see that now Dave sorry my mistake :-[
Paul, I did have glasses on, or should i say goggles ;)
All the best,
Jason.
