Title: Definition of a Window Cleaner

Just taken on a new customer who sacked his window cleaner because he did not clean the frames. Have to agree with what his arguement was that if you are called a window cleaner then you are liable to clean the frame , glass and sills.

Because a window is a framework containing glass in the opening of a building. If we just cleaned the glass then we should be called a glass cleaner.

Couldn't argue with him on that at all, what's your veiws on this.

Same as
we always have cleaned the frames
even when we were trad
 :)

UPVC frames and sills I agree a quick wipe over is part of the job. Old frames with flaking paint and concrete sills with flaking paint is a no.

Window Installers, install frames, glass sills....you know the rest.

till yesterday i would have disagreed with you, as I only cleaned the window (glass) not frames when doing trad, customers paid extra for frames (because I was not a frame cleaner and I classed the bit you see out of as the window. I now clean everything with wfp even things I dont need to  :) that im not getting paid for, helps incase i get any problems no calls as yet to say about spots, have not told most of my customers, but if they are in I explain and say I now clean the frames free of charge. they all seem to love it, some ask loads of questions I see this as a good thing.

I think glass only...  in some cases give the sill a wipe, Extra for the frames]


But when i got wfp i will clean frames, sill and window, all one price

I don't always do the frames.
Some get a quick wipe.

Only holds you up, and gives you more chance of spots.
