Title: Method
Post by: AquaMagic on October 24, 2007, 05:05:31 pm
Ive had loads of customers who have approached me while im prepping a carpet and say "the last guy had a machine like a big hoover" at which point i say "me too ill be extracting next".  I made me think, do other CC's prespray or do they just use an in-tank chemical, i personally use both, unless the carpets arent to bad in which case ill skip the formula 90.

So come on fella and lasses be honest which do you do?

I appreciate every job will differ so just select the "norm".

Mike

I agree with you up until you get to the first bonnet but I'm not gonna get into a bonnet/HWE debate coz I'm too knackered..

I tend to do all of the things I can to make sure that everyone gets the same clean, if you don't get the right response you can't put it down to something you've missed out, irrelivant of what system/s you use.

once you start to understand the cleaning pie you can start manipulating it to your own advantage.

I might go into a house pre-pray the H/S/L & L/R then scrub the L/R and then extract it, leaving the H/S/L to have an extended dwell time so not requiring the agitation.

I knocked over my hyraforce once and spilt my pre-spray, by the time I'd noticed it and sucked it up with the wand I'd left a clean mark that was hard to clean the rest of the carpet to match it.

this showed me that a pre-spray can have a desired effect without agitation, if you leave it long enough ( and it doesn't dry out)

Dave Liohana swears by his 1 jet wand as it gives the desired wetness as the standard 4 jetted wands although spray evenly don't rinse aswell.

I've come to learn that the less jets the better for Dave's reason but also you don't need much obstruction in a 3 or 4 jet wand to make you passes look awful

I was amazed some time ago when the effect of a spill, that went unnoticed for an hour, resulted in a beautifully clean area and it was only water in the bucket.

Reminds me of my early days, when I used to prespray fairly heavily with the carpet wand the full area to be cleaned, then start extracting after about 10 - 15 minutes dwell time.

Worked pretty well and only stopped when microsplitters appeared about ten years ago and the little Klanz made light work of aggitating a lightly misted prespray.

If you have a look around youtube you'll find that most US cleaners do really put presprays and HWE very heavily, I know they have loads of man made fibres to dry quickly but on some of the videos you'd think that they were going to drown but they do get very good results but I don't know about the drying but in the US they say dry in 1 hour even with HWE.

shaun i disagree, a four jet wand rinses better as you use more water, than a single or twin jets wand, and with that new wand of mine it rinses better and the drying out times are awesome

Dave uses a 06 jet but I must admit that wand of yours sounds very nice, have you got the 5 x 01 jets on it?

Tell me when you get your TM vac hose converted to 2.5 and how dry it leaves the carpet after.

no paul got one of greenies greenhorn wand 12inch with four jets, the angles of the jets are so different, its angled towards the lips, i think its makes a big difference on drying out,

shaun am hoping to get the 2'5 vac port fitted 2mrrw to the waste tank, but the way this wand drys a carpet i dont think i need it,

let us know next week how you get on with both together, providing you can unstick your wand from the carpet!

Do you thin Greenie would get it shipped in time for Xmas?
