I was reading a post a while back, cant remember which one it was, so sorry; but, someone said thats there a big difference between being a window-cleaner and running a successful window cleaning business.
Now I have an idea as to what they were probably getting at, (your an expanding business, particularly through recommendations, mostly satisfied customers, income is more than the national average, hourly-wise anyway)
What criteria would you guys suggest are the differences between a window-cleaner and a successful window-cleaning business?

To me one of the most important distinctions is, if your down ( sick, holiday etc) does the business carry on without you

Window Cleaner - Some one who takes enough money, or maybe more than enough to survive.
A Successful window cleaning business - Not dependant on any one person, ie: the owner in most cases, incase like somebody says, holidays, sickness etc.

The definition of a good business rather than self employment is that you can leave it if needed and it will continue to run profitably.
That's what I am aiming for :)

sort of sparked my brain to set up the other post.
Alot of people seem to think that workers can be a pain in the arse, and i can imagine they can be, but to get to this stage you need to employ.

yep!! there's no other way to a successful business than to employ.

But theres no way that that can be the only criteria to defining if a business is successful or not.
Are you guys saying that all the one-man-bands on here aren't successful?
I work alone, but I consider myself successful.
Theres surely, equally, loads of UNsuccessful businesses that also employ people, come on, lets be more specific.
