Nothing new there, that's quite a common question for suites & rugs.

A lot of people are totally unaware of the cleaning process, a lot are even scared of it and therefore never dare having it done.  It's our/your job to ease their mind and assure them that it is a simple process which causes minimal disruption to their day.

I have had people asking if I use Chemdry, as it says on the label on their suite that it should be cleaned by Chemdry!

Lionheart's right, some people just dont know  ::)

I have a client who had a so called 'cleaner' come round and gave her a quote for her suite, and proceeded to explain they take the suite away to clean it and will bring it back nice and clean....you guessed it they took it away and never came back  :o

Its amazing how some people are so nieve. Can you imagine the cost of getting a lorry to the house, time and trouble squeezing the suite out of the house, taking it back to the workshop, time cleaning it, then more time returning it and getting it back into the home?? It should have clicked but crooks pick on these type of people.

Maybe I am missing something here.  Rugs are an obvious to have to remove to clean properly.  But I also add, so are or is upholstery.  Especially with leather and other not so easy to clean textiles.  Believe me if you offer a pick up, clean and return upholstery service you can charge what most people dont think is possible.

You can also do a much better job as you arent so time restricted.  You also have more control over the drying and will almost always be able to add on protection.

The referrals will number greater than just cleaning insitu as the neighbours will want two things, 1)  to know what was going on in the first place and 2)  to have the same service for their textiles.

What on site would have been say 2 or 300 could now be 4 or 500 pounds to do the same thing.  Just remember you arent actually doing the same thing, you have cleaned better and offered a service maybe very rare or maybe even un-heard of.

Shaun, you wanted to know how to be different to increase your income, well here is an idea......

Best, Dave.

I used to work for a cleaning co that did take away as well as onsite, their onsite cleaning is cheap but there take away is far more expensive maybe twice for upholstery and 3 times for carpets which is often the case as people think carpet cleaning is harder, they'd make a killing if they pushed protector.

Dave would you email me the protector you recommend? shaun_ashmore@lineone.net

Thanks Shaun

The upholstery question I can just about understand but some of our competitor domestic cleaning companies advertise their house cleaning as a mobile service! As if they would take away your house to clean it and bring it back.
