price per window, area does matter, the further north you go cheaper it tends to be, i've found it depends what their previous cleaner has charged, you might get a string of quotes where previously they were underpriced, or even better, overpriced.

I usually go on the basis of 80p-£1 a window and usually works ok for an hourly rate, and gets the customers.

I'm based in your area but as we know, some parts are more afluent than others

Pricing does seem to be regional.  I'm in the southeast.  I hasve a minimum of £10 fore new work with a price of about £1 per window frame.  Of course this is only a rule of thumb as there can be other factors such as poor access.

If you are operating in the Midlands area then good luck to you.  I work in the same area and I don't find it to be very good.  We usually charge from £6 to £10 for a 3 bedroom house.  That probably seems a bit cheap but I find that sometimes in my area the customers even find that to be too expensive.

Where abouts stephen

Quinton, Tividale, Dudley, Blackheath, Harborne, Bearwood, Kinver, Brandhall, Halesowen etc.  These areas don't seem to be very good at all in my experience.

Hi Stephen.

I was born in Dudley so can understand that, i was in Harbourne yesterday quoting a job (it was actually for the gardening side of work i do, wouldnt travel that far out for a small WC) and the road i went to seemed fairly decent and my customer seemed quite willing to pay (charged extra for travelling), although that was through recommendations.

Theres some big old 3 storey houses down that way, and believe me i've checked, there not cheap!

Also like i said alot of quotes im finding i loose or struggle to justify my price on if they've had a cheap window cleaner before hand, despite the fact it might of been 5 years ago, or that he left because he was probably getting underpaid!

Aslong i get 5/10 quotes turn into jobs i'm happy.

castleclean.
Do you clean frames and cills too.

When I started out customers sometimes remarked that the old cleaner was cheaper but when I said I clean the whole lot that seamed to win them over.  I am based about 30 mins from worcs and I price 75p down 1.00 up. 1.50 for 2nd storey.  I normally tally up the house then round it up to the nearest fiver.  If the property looks really awkward or the paintwork is crap or the windows are just really shocking I just work on a good hourly rate when I price up.
good luck with it
