the other day i was asked by some builders to clean the windows of a house they were putting up for sale so i did.
they told me they would be back in an hour and even if i didn't see them they would be there all afternoon to pay me. They weren't on both counts and i am almost certain they deliberately did this never intending to actually pay me. I have lefts notes at the house about when i'm supposed to collect with out any reply. i'm seriously considering going round at night and egging every window not for revenge but to teach them that ripping people off is wrong and not ot do it to other people, its just makes me so angry.
But it doesnt end there, today i was supposed to clean some gutters but the customer of this particular house had to be in at the time to let me through to the back. despite me telling them to inform me by phone if they couldn't be in on the date we arranged there wasn't a single person in the house this morning, it was deserted.
one of these days im gonna snap and go on a killing spree.

Egg em! ;D
leave it until halloween though! ;)
-
i want to egg the house before those gits sell it tho. i don't want the brand new owners who have done nothing wrong by me with egged windows. i just want the builders who are selling it to suffer. they wont be able to sell a house thats windows are egged. i don't care if they know its me thats done it coz they know they've ripped me off.
-
Could go one better speak to a local farmer ask him to use his much spreader park in front of said houses and cover the whole lot ;D when they say you only cleaned windows but covered whole house just say that was the interest ;)
-
Why not put soap on with an applicator....and leave it ;D
Lee

If you've been messed around by them mate seriously just put the dirt back on the windows.
Soap up your applicator dip it into some mud and go for it!

Come come guys! Don't make yourself as bad as them.
Know the feeling though.

They were supposed to pay for the windows to be cleaned...
Dave cleaned them, but they didn't pay!
So... What's wrong with "un-cleaning them"?

nothing!! someone's taken the pee.
A soapy applicator is i think better than egged windows if someone is watching.
He must be able to find out who the builders are though. Get their details, double the price you agreed and make a claim against them.
-
Give 'em their dirt back.
Dave, you've stolen their dirt you realise, I suggest you give it back ;D
-
I wouldn't waste any more of my precious time on them than was absolutely necessary. They are not worth it in my book. It'll more than likely happen to all of us sooner or later.

Just give some kids a fiver and 12 eggs... tell them to have some fun with the house:)

Yes great idea , just imagine if they get caught you can just see the headlines.
Not very professional at all.

A guy I know was given the keys of a small office building that had been refurbished and told to clean the windows inside and out.
When he had finished he sent in the invoice . A couple of days later the builder phoned and and told him he was not going to pay him as he was not happy with the work. So this guy who still has the keys for the building buys himself some super glue and squirts it in every lock, then he puts in the keys and snaps them of inside all the locks.

D Woods, did you have any comeback, or was that the last you heard?
-
surely the house will be on with an Estate Agent? Are the Ea's doing the viewings? Book a viewing! If so, ask who the builders were. If not, you'll meet the builders face to face..........hopefully with their BILL & Court papers!
Or Issue papers to the EA to pass onto them, taking them to court.

I would have just took it on the chin, maybe followed it up in court if it was over £100, if less I would just forget it. I have a name to protect and doing eggs superglue ect will only come back to haunt you and cost you alot more than you lost in the first place. IMO forget about it

I have been messed about a bit in the last few months by about 4 customers. They were not in so I cleaned the windows leaving a note and a SAE so they could send me the payment. Here I am several months later and still no payment. They never answer when I visit their houses and fail to respond to notes. It is bad enough that it seems that I have lost them as customers but to not get paid for a job you have done is even worse. I don't have many customers as it is so I can't really afford to loose any. :(
-
if i had 2 count the money ive lost from non payin customers who just forget u exist i scare myself
ive sent letters threatened court action they no that your not goin 2 persue it if its under £100

Why don't you do it??
It only costs £35 to register the claim amd then it's out of your hands.
I've only had to do it once on a £35 job, but i would get more satisfaction if it bumped up someone from a £10 clean to £45.
The only thing i think is unprofessional is when window cleaners take on a customer and don't know their name.
-
ive got all names & address on comp of all customers records of all cleans goin back 20yrs,
how do you start the ball rolling with getin the money back from them thru courts etc??????
-
all online from here.

It's one of the best tips i've had from this site. Tosh put it up 1st.
It allows us to be professional in getting our revenge.

say i need a id & password ???
i've only used it once. And was successful. You have to register and pay the £35 fee. Just follow the instructions.
All done from the comfort of your own home.

I just read this one out to my missus, she said and I quote thats like not paying the chimney sweep as nowadays they use hoovers, instead of sending the village idiot up the chimney
I thought that was so accurate a comparison.

I have been going just over 1 month, and have had my first 'messing about'today...
I have been out collecting (I know, old fashioned but allows me to interact with my customers) and visisted one of my éstate'customers. She said, come back for your money Tuesday and I want to cancel, as does my neighbor.
Ok, I said, but is there any specific reason? ' Yeah, you are sh*t at your job! Well, All I could think to retort with was ''ŭou are wrong love, but whatever, goodbye''. I have over 100 other satisfied customers, all very happy with the job I do...Anyhow, I knew she would be trouble from the start. First clean I explained that I would not be cleaning any cracked windows...she wanted a discount. 2nd clean..I did 2 weeks from the first as agreed and noted on George...customer said that she wanted monthly and would cancel if I did it again...
I wish she could have just come out and said that I was too expensive, or that she couldn't afford the clean, or whatever instead of being insulting. I take great pride in my work and felt quite hurt...
I was shocked! I am gonna write off thies owed money as I know I won't get it.
Oh, and it's halloween soon. My son is a great pitcher with an egg ;) She might need a window cleaner when he is finished :D
-
.......And i thought my window cleaner had an immature streak ::) ::) ::)

Nothing wrong with venting feelings.
Customers can and do get to you at some time or another, if they didnt we'd be super-human. No doubt in time you'll have forgotten all about her, chin up, best foot forward, onwards and upwards......it's meant to be dry for the foreseeable, so at least theres something to be positive about.
