Title: C. difficile

had a customer on whos dad has had C. difficile  and had a few 'accidents' on the carpet, apparently microsan has not been tested for this, anyone got any information on the best route for this one, is there anything to be done or is it throw away the carpets?

I'd be amazed if Microsan did'nt deal with it (considering it kills everything else). Have you tried dept. of health Colin?

no pete, do they sell it?

only joking, spoke to prochem and they said it might be effective against it but  it hasn't been tested for it yet so they cannot say.

ps i didn't realise that microsan is 10.5ph and can be used as a cleaner!

Blimey, that'd go down well with the eco crowd.

As for Health thingy I bet if you contacted them and told them active ingredients theye would be able to yes or no.

If confirmed as C.Diff, carpet will have to be destroyed as will underlay, you can not give any guarantee that any product will remove the contamination at this time.

You must expain this to the customer. If they want you to proceed with cleaning get them to sign to say so, personally I would decline.

C Diff is just a pathogen an you sould treat it the same as all others.
Because this bactria is new, it does not mean it can be controlled/reduced. Just like all other spore formers it can easily be killed, you just nee to control the bacteria and its area.
Chemicals can  kll it.
Temp ( high heat will kill it)

Just clean as normal for this type of siuation.

My ref was to the cleaning with Microsan but I can see the funny side ;D
