Title: Don't try this at home!
Post by: northstar on October 18, 2007, 06:49:21 pm
I have cleaned a kitchen carpet today and there was a stain caused by some kind of enamel paint.
I went to speak to the customer who was tinkering with his old Porsche in the garage. Without further ado he came into the kitchen with an aerosol can of carburettor and fuel injection cleaner and squirted it onto the affected area.

Guess what? It worked a treat. Stain gone and no damage to the carpet.

I wonder if Prochem do anything that could fix my head gasket.................?

No it's a solvent, so probably not that much different to many other cleaning chemicals.

Back in the '70s Derek Bolton pioneered the use of commercial concrete cleaner for cleaning cars in his valeting business!

Nothing wrong with what was used and or brake cleaner.  Quicker than most things that are sold as cleaners in our industry and more readily available.   Oh and a darn site cheeper.  If you use it and extract at the same time oil and similar spots will come out completely.  If you just use the spray be careful as gravity can take the same spot farther into the textile that is soiled.  Best, Dave.

P.S. As has been said it is nothing like wd40.  wd40 works very well but needs rinsing considerably or it will become the problem stain.

Carb, injector and break cleaners are pretty much what we are already using.  Better packaged though as so much easier to use......
