Hi All,
The way to start a good round is to door nock, we all know that. There has been a lot said for it. However we better hurry up, it may soon become a big problem in England. Look at the report, what do you think about that?

Well - As a window cleaner and JW I'm in trouble!

My areas no cold calling. I canvassed all spring and no one mentioned it.
As a JW it has been mentioned. Isn't that odd?
By the way, the small print of the local law says Legitimate charity callers etc are allowed as are religous groups.
But as I said, as a window cleaner, no one has ever said anything.

I have knocked on a door that had a sticker saying...NO COLD CALLS she is now a very good customer!

I think it will only become a problem if you are aggressive or rude. Generally speaking as long as you are polite and friendly you will be ok.
The Cold Calling ban is to predominately stop the "HARD SELL" merchants and people who don't take "NO" for an answer.
I am sure if you are polite and someone says about the ban and you simpy apologise there will be little comeback.
Only time and experience will tell.
Incidentally, if this does become the way forward then I guess the Canvassing Companies who push their services on here may find it difficult to continue?

when i canvas, i always give the "no salemen" doors a knock.
Afterall, im only offering a service, not trying to get them to hand over any money on the door.
I have never had a problem.

Gazz,
Yes there are, and generaly speaking all the nice guys. But it's a funny thing when a thread goes down this route it generally ends up on some kind of controversy or argument, a bit like the trad wfp thing. Then it get's locked because I suppose it's racist ect. Comments like- well they would be good at canvassing- and progressing from there.
I'm not JW, but I think all the guys who are, are good guys.
Just read Drakestars comment. see what I mean?
-
thats why i said it coz ive seen the same thing as you mate.
-
Hi Drakestar,
Didn't mean to poin the finger at you. Soz.
There was a thread about cold calling being ilegall before and it was the subject of a legal challenge.
-
They are only a hindrance if you see the sign ;)
'Sorry madam, I have only just noticed your sign. I won't try to sell you anything, but take a leaflet and call if you are interested'
Works for me ;)

Ditto
A lot of people around my way have those "no salesman, cold callers etc etc" stickers on their door but it has never stopped me canvassing them and the owners have never objected either.
-
Cold calling isn't illegal anyway.......is it??
I have never allowed those yellow stickers influence my door-knocking. Ive noticed them and subsequently ignored them. No-one has ever said anything to me either, particularly those custys you pick up after cold calling ;D

"Do you need a window cleaner? Yes or no?"
Not exactly hard sell is it? Not very intimidating.
All reasonable people just want to feel safe in their homes. It only takes about ten seconds to work out weather you are welcome or not. Anyway it isn't being passed as legislation.
Have a nice weekend y'all. 8)

LOL. That's a double whammy.
Mind you, there's nothing to stop you putting W/C leaflets through the letter boxes. I imagine the same would apply to your religious leaflets. Perhaps better not to do them at the same time though :)

I do it differently. I don't door knock these days but I do leaflet. If there's a sign saying "No junk mail" or "no leaflets" or similar, I leave well alone.
