Well done but is that 8 jobs £60 total or £60 per property £480
I hate going out canvassing but remember the feeling after so many no's then a yes makes it all worth while
At the rate you are going you will be full time w/c ing in about two weeks ;D

-
yea took your advice and 6 quid 4 beds became 8 quid....thats why iam here now having a beer,....thanks
-
4 beds became 8 quid
Shocking prices 4 beds should be more than that surely
-
Nice one!!! :)
Actually I've just seen your post on your other thread about hiking your prices.. DUH!!
Enjoy your beer. When do you plan to start cleaning these new customers? Don't leave then long because it could cause you probs if you do.
In a few months time you will be making a decent living at a great job. I gave up status and a whacking salary to become a ever so umble window cleaner. Best thing I,ve ever done. ;D
So whats you days work worth in total?
Dont answer if you dont want to but it may help us here to help you make the most of it from day one.
-
right ,i think that i would like to earn about £75 quid a day over an average 25 day cycle is that possible over the course of a year........and yes it is a whacking big pay loss for me..however currently work about 60 hours..with plenty of stress on top
-
Don't expect all those new customers to last and more important don't get disheartened when a fair percentage drop by the wayside or end up being messers or time wasters.
Its just par for the course and it has never been any different. But as long as you are expecting it you won't get all demotivated by it.
The customers you pick up on the knocker will include other cleaners cast offs, nutters, people who can't afford it etc etc
There is one type of customer that just says "yes alright" although the impression is that they have never given it a moments thought until you rang their bell.
After you have been a couple of times they realise they are going to have to pay up on a regular basis and go all wishy washy about the whole thing. However they don't have the strength of character to just dump you so they start messing you about and making silly excuses till you dump them.
Then a few months later another window cleaner knocks on their door..............
-
thanks that burst me bubble :-\
-
Actually Vince is right in what he says.
You will get messers but you have just got to grit your teeth and keep gaining new good customers and over time you will refine your work.
I think a touch of realism might help you. Firstly well done on getting the work. There is a but though. This may sound unrealistic to you right now but you need to double your daily earnings target. It wont take long for you to get fed up earning just £75 a day. £150 a day is far more realistic. You wont do 5 full days a week every week. There will be weather to take into account espaecially now as winter isnt far away and this last summer has been totally CR+P so you have to build in a buffer.
The last thing I would want to see is you working yourself into the ground trying to pay the bills and probably giving it all up for a "normal" job. £8.00 for a 4 bed is really too cheap as well. Go for at least £12.00 without conservatories etc .. preferably £15.00.
Try it... never undersell yourself as you will very quickly begin to regret it.

tell you what i don't know when ill start to do them I'll know over the course of the next 16 days...then i need to get either trolley or van...minds working overtime exciting though
-
you wouldn't get them prices up here ...don't forget were just about joined on to Britain's worst town ...the boro
-
You've been given very good info, and as they say don't take it to heart when they complain and mess you about or dump you.
It's taken guts to do what you've done so far, and I would say you will be a success because of your attitude.
Everyone on here, repeat everyone on here says they priced too cheaply to start. So take the advice you've been given.(I know you have been doing, i'm just reiterating that people are saying)
Just read your last post, everyone thinks they live in the worst town; You don't, look at a £1 a window. Don't make a life of misery for yourself, if you are going to do this, do it well with good prices.
-
do you think i,am in too much of a rush with this....should i stay part time until next spring?..build up my equipement with a trolley i could do 15 houses on my days off could,nt i?
-
Don't know, but in general don't jack your job in. It'll take 6mts to get a wage.
Biulding a round is arkward because you start off with 2hrs work then 4hrs etc but you have to do the jobs you've already got to move on. In other words if you've got thirty jobs but you want forty you have to do and keep doing the thirty before you can move on.
WFP is the right direction but you must have trad equip plus skills too.
Expect to be useless to start, don't expect to make any money.Persistence being the key. You should target £15ph to start then £30ph, this is a business not a job.
-
honestly i,m not bad at it and enjoy it ..{it doesn't seem like work}i have a laff with the customers they think i do a good job i got more from word of mouth, by the way they were all bungalows....i know i could make a living at it because being confident and positive helps...........i chose an out lying area to canvass first because i thought it would be tough to get the work and thought it might give me a reality check...however got what i wanted and still half of the village to do.
-
If yer going part time as well as yer full time job, make sure yer kosha ;D
Never know who is watching.
-

My advice would be to start cleaning windows, even if its just for practice and on your days off. Do not pack your job in this time of year. Pace it out, sort out the problems, get up to speed and get as much experience as you can now.
