Title: Learning trad
Post by: Davew on October 15, 2007, 08:14:41 pm
Iv'e got a school to do this weekend - insides. So it's going to be a learning curve for me as I have had to do very little by hand. Hopefully by the time I've finished I'll get the hang of it. Any tips?

do not put pressure on the squeege let it glide and do the work for you, make sure you have extra rubbers with you incase of nicks etc (they leave lines) to start try starting at top left corner and pulled squeege downwards wiping it dry after every downward move, this will stop you seeing to many lines(which is commanly know as a streak) also try not to wet the whole window leave a 1inch gap around the glass this again will leave you will leave you with less lines, when done detail edges, do one window at a time to start as insides will normally dry very quick and you will not be quick to start.

If you aren't up to speed with a squeegee use soft rubbers. Very little pressure and do wat John Garnett has shown.

I am mainly WFP but wouldn't be without the good old squeegee for anything. In fact there is a lot more satisfaction doing a quick, good job with a squeegee than with a brush on the end of a stick :)

And take a few scrims :D  as your new to it mite be alot of detailing which will get wet so take a few and use dry once one is wet.

Northing worse than useless 2wet scrim.

Try 'dogearing' your sqeegeee - slighlty turning down the ends of the squeegee.

This made a big difference fore  me.

The dog ear removes moor water when the squeegee runs down the edges of the window, therefore less Scrim work is needed.
