Was out in the sticks today and got lost for all three jobs. Customers directions where rubbish and wrong and theres no good maps for these areas.
Was looking at a Garmin nivi 310d in Halfords for £250. Includes Europe, bluetooth for the phone, MP3 player which wouldnt be used etc.
What system have you got and which features are worth while and those not.
The bluetooth works through a speaker on the sat nav device. Is this ok or rubbish when doing 70mph.
thanks
Mark

I have a Mio C250.
Has Euro maps but no bluetooth - I have an earpiece for that anyway.
3.5" touchscreen, MP3 but I dont use that either
Cost - about £130 on ebay + post
Good clear directions - easy to read screen
No choice on voices - just a mans voice and I like being dominated by women!
There are some cheap makes about and they are probably fine but watch the processor speed - like computers - faster the better.
Garmin is a good make though.

tom tom one europe £185 tell you where to go and has speed cameras free, no anything eles very small works most of a day on one charge and take it out in your pocket. Not the cheapest or the best just easy to use.

i have had a navman and now have a medion sat nav, but i do find when you are out in the sticks especially around here, a postcode search will only get you close, sometimes you may still be over 3 miles away, and you cant always search a street address as they tell you the name of the village and the house name.
may be different in different parts of the country, but i know my lockup if you put that post code in it takes you about a mile away from where it is because of its rural location
-
When I am in the office my computer is normally on.
When I receive a call and take a booking I always open google maps or streetmap.co.uk, ask the potential custy there post code and house number then I tell them their street - impresses most.
Could do the same in the rurals I suppose.
Doing this means you know exactly where you are going.
Obviously different if out on a job, you get a call, and you go there next - no time for computer maps.
Just gotta be more specific between you and customer.

I use a Navman N20, does everything I want it to do, ie: it gets me from A to B wth very little hassle. I bought it from Costco last December when they were on offer for £159.99.
I'm buying 4 Navman F10's in just over a weeks time for the other vans as Costco have them on offer for £79.99 +vat from 22nd October. £30 off normal price.
In my eyes this is enough to pay, they're not going to be going much further than a 50 mile radius of home so they don't need anything fancy.
I ALWAYS ask the customer for their postcode, where we live there are many outlying areas that I've never heard of, also in and around Newcastle confuses the hell out of me at the best of times!!
They are worth getting.

Got the NAVMAN F10's from costco yesterday, excellent little package for under £100, offer ends today so be quick! ;D

Just been looking at upgrading my phone as current one is getting on, and noticed Nokia N95 has GPS.
Anyone know if this is any good ?
