I got my straps from a caravan shop , I think they were just heavy duty ones ( cant remember what strain they took ) and the bolts I got from a towbar fitting company , as they use ones that wont snap . The plate I got form someone whos windows I do who makes gates.
In all I think it only cost me about £30

so what are hese plates look like and were do they go
-
Email me and I wil give you more details, my email details are in my profile

The plates are to spread the stress of an impact as bolts would just rip through the floor.
The plates go under the van floor (outside) then the bolts come up through the plates, then the van floor and secure to the angle iron.
I think the steel you need for diy would be hi-tensile steel. At least the bolts should be.
