can anyone suggest what to use to get rid of what appears to be lime staining on mortar joints and the residue that has run on to the brick,have tried brick acid but it doent make a lot of difference,hope you can help,cheers Neil

not sure about this, but doesnt lime permeate from inside a brick. I heard that the cheaper the brick the more lime and then the white marks, so maybe its not possible??

this is called efflorescence!! you can buy efflorescence remover from builders merchants. ;D

its not effloresence its permeating from the mortar not the brick,cheers

will try to get one,it seems pretty common in this area the deposits look like a calcium deposit like something you would find inside a cave

it could be a stalictite or stalicmite, ha ha ;D
not heard of this, let us know how you get on. ;D
