 noticed that the board has become slow recently

Been ok with me

Have you checked for spywear on your computer as sometimes this can slow things down you can download either adaware or spybot search and destroy from www.download.com (http://www.download.com)

i've had problems since i downloaded service pack 2 for XP, had to turn off automatic updates as that seemed to be causing a very bad slow down on any site i entered, only thing is now everytime i turn my pc on i get an annoying pop up saying 'auto update is turned off'. Apart from that its fine now

Martin, you can turn the reminders off. Click on the reminder and at the bottom (i think its there)is a preference selection. use this to turn off the reminders.

I deleted my xp service pack 2 pc works i find pcbetter with out it .    Paul

Mr Woodman ,

If you mean slow bringing up screens I agree with you . I have added no extras and I am on Broadband.

Must be frustrating for you as a Moderator as you have to read everything.

I'm finding CIU slow, but other sites are fine. I have xp service pack 2 also.

I also find that I now have to leave a space at the end of a word before inserting a smiley.

Safe but slow surfing :)

Hi

I spent an hour or so yesterday evening clearing my pc, transferring data to a disc, running system checks etc, etc.

I also did a system restore to the beginning of the month..

Result..a much faster reaction and load up

Defragment of your disk drive volumes can make a huge difference as well.
