Hello all,
I'm a window cleaner and am just asking for a bit of info on the old carpet cleaning. In the last four weeks I've spent £200 on hiring carpet cleaners to do bits of work here and there as part of contracts I have for window cleaning
I was thinking of maybe buying a carpet cleaner myself and wondered if you guys had any advice for me?
Thanks.

if you had a 100% mark up keep doing it the way you have been.
you said £200 on carpet clener(s) plural, why more than one, different area or, please tell us more

Hi Mate,
Yeah I say carpet cleaners due to the fact I had to hire one on more than one occasion. Now I get the feeling that you guys the carpet cleaners may think, well your a window cleaner. Stick to your own trade. But I really enjoy cleaning anything really and wanted to help my wife set up a business as well as my own company. I think there is nothing better work wise than finding something really dirty and spending your time cleaning it and looking at the end result gives you an enormous sense of job satisfaction.

Hi Colley,
I would get yourself (or your wife) on a training course and where you are you may as well do the NCCA one. You have a custy base which is a good start but if you do the training (2 day course) you will learn if it's right for you and/your wife. I know some will disagree but you'll be hard pushed to get a set of kit for less than £1k.

Your I mind reader! I've just been looking at that course online. I have family in Leicester so I think I will camp down there and do the course before I get going. I have also been speaking to a local business start up firm that said I can qualify for a government grant for £2000. I was thinking of buying a rug doctor with my budget and paying for 2 places on the course. but what would you guys do in my shoes?

take the grant for a start but don't jump in to your kit buy until you have done it. You will pick up so much advice to help guide you into the right buy for you.
-
Thanks mate. I'm not gonna jump in just yet because I'm still getting my window cleaning company up and running and at the moment its accelerating really fast.

Many better options than rug doctor, (swamp doctor )
Cheers
