Who else is ped off with royal mail workers at the mo??
I AM!!
I must have at least £5-600 worth of cheques stuck in the system. Not much money has come in since last Tuesday and not expecting much till the weekend at the earliest!
With more strike action planned right up till Christmas I might have to give up my evenings again and go out collecting just to get some money in!!
Rant over with!!

Yeah I'm in the same situation... It's a nightmare. I'm skint at the moment :(

They are supposed to be back to work tomorrow from 12pm, with a weeks worth of post to get through!
More strike action planned for next week according to the news reports >:(

i have some caught up in the system, i also have 2 big ones from commercial customers so hopefully i can have them by the end of the week, they rekon it could take up to 3/4 weeks to get some post....bloody crazy!!
-
I have a couple of grand stuck in the post, at least i cant spend it while its there
-
Try telephoning your customer the night befoire you clean them and get them to leave a cheque or cash under a mat or something.
-
the less we rely on the post the better i got a couple of hundred quid out there gonna get my customers to stop sending cheques it will either have to be left out or paid via the net from now on

If you was a posty & was told they are going to take £20,000 out of you pension i'm sure you
would be unhappy & strike. Oh & by the way, the managers pension is safe.

I've got a few hundred pounds worth stuck there as well. If this goes on for a while, I will make an extra effort to get myt customers paying electronically. That will be a bit of regular business lost forever to the postal system. So my bit isn't much but multiply that by the number of small businesses in this country and it stacks up to quite a bit.
However, I don't blame the workers. I've worked in environments like that and I know the sort of stuff that goes on. It can be taken very personally between workers and management. Sometimes the original issues get forgotten about and it just becomes a way of both sides trying to save face.
I think Japan has (had?) a better way. Arbitration was a step of first resort rather than last resort. The management would put their offer and strings to the arbitrators. The workers would put theirs. The arbitrators would then have to choose one or the other. It ensured that everyone was fairly reasonable with their demands. Of course for it to work, the arbitrators would have to be very carefully selected and would have to be trusted by both sides.

Its not Macc, my uncle is a reginal manager and he is having to take a 20000 cut, he is also working in sorting post at the mo as well to try and keep things moving a little (with other higher staff obviously, not on his own :o ;D)

I can't believe some of you have so much in the post.
Is no-one ever in where you live? :o
I might have a couple of tenners on the way if I'm lucky.
Then again, I might not.
I can't remember who owes what, but it's never more than £100.

sack the lot >:( >:( >:( >:(

Ok, sorry, i've been corrected. :-[
I would say no & strike too.
I've now got about £1000 out. :o
Funny though how the MP's pension fund was short not long ago & they & the government
voted the tax payer will make up the short fall. >:(

Personally, I don't have much outstanding. However, I will try to get more electronic payments in the next few weeks. As someone said, this will be business lost to the Royal Mail forever. Not entirely a good thing that. Just think how cheap and convenient this service is at times. Imagine your Granny lives on Skye and you want to send her a picture of your kids. She hasn't got a computer. 30 or 40p gets it there. If this goes on too long, the whole system will break down. For ever. BTW I'm entirely on the side of the workers here. It seems to me the management have another agenda.

same here, no cheques for 3 days

& voted in a massive pay rise & reduced their late night hours to be more family friendly & a full pension after 7 years in the post & whilst they might cry a low salary they have a sodding flaming huge EXPENSE ACCOUNT amongst other perks, some of which can be described as 'opaque'.

strange thing is I have had post everyday this week :o it is only full time that are off
-
nothing here today except the new pro window cleaning mag

They've been closing Post Offices right left and centre, they don't seem too concerned about the future of Royal Mail to say the least, so is it even in the interests of Royal Mail to settle this strike??
-
It kinda reminds me of when Maggie Thatcher provoked the miners into striking when they decided we didn't want a coal industry anymore.
I've got no cheques in the post, but I'm still waiting for my Inforad speed camera detector, and a Sony Ericsson memory stick... wish I'd bought em locally!
