hi were do you get this from and how much isnit how much do you need for a small type van combo to be exact
-
Id like to no how much you need as i have a combo too the new shape.
You can buy it from Pure Freedom £75.00 thats for a kit i think there was a site were you could just get the paint for cheaper.

why do you need a kit anyone know
-
just incause you havent got the stuff around your hose i spose. i dont no actully what comes in the kit but it will be stuuff to apply it with and a "scotch" pad if thats how u spell it and some other stuff i imagine.
but from working in a car body place before all you need to do is mask out with 2inch masking tape and news paper if you want o go over the top then scotchy the floor to take the shine off the paint (this is like the pads you get in the kichen with the sponges on but diffrent lol) on the floor to the proteckta cote sticks to the floor make sure thats done well otherwise it wont last 5mins then use a de-greaser to take off the the much and clean the floor do this twice and dry it and paint away.
Thats how a car body centre would do it anyway.

Combo van 2 to 3 ltrs will do it fine. You dont need a kit but make sure you wear some plastic gloves when you put the stuff on. ;D
You can get it from places like Freedom or direct from the U.K. distributors.
Just google Protectakote :)
-
I know Sarah found a stockist who was much cheaper than buying direct. I'm sure she'll be along soon but if not, search for the thread on here.
-
If I remember right kit =
Protectacote
brush
gloves
roller x 2
1 Kit cover the floor of my Scudo (2 coats) with little left over
Next time I wil bye protecta cote on own have the other bits around works out cheaper
try andrews water he used to supply it

You will need 1 tin, that will be enough for 2 coats. Dont buy the special white spirit they say you need just get cheap brushes and throw them away, wear old clothes and gloves.
Try this
www.protectakote.co.uk
-
just use normal white spirit to clean it off, jsut make sure u scotchy the van floor so the paint will stick then use the white spirit.
-
and remember to go up the sides a little (maybe 4 or 6 inches) as this totally seals the join.
Have ALL doors open and be prepared for a headache, goggleyes or be a little high! ;)
Just buy the paint. The rest is cheaper from the pound shop!
-
lizzy canot find saras thread can you look it up and post a link cheers
-
how many liters to the tin
-
why do you need a kit anyone know
You dont it is just a roller ect but the instrustions do help, if you have painted a room in your house you can do this. one tin will do your van no problem.
-
DONT NEED A ROLLER JUST DAB IT ON I USED A 5LTR TIN FOR A SWB CONNECT AND ONLY USED HALF A TIN BUT YOU CAN PUT AS MANY COATS ON A POSSIBLE I DONE ALL UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER/DRIVERS FOOTWELLS TOO THE LOT

dab it on?? that must have taken you ages, rollers are so so much quicker,. I would advise not to dab use a roller time is money ;)

IT TOOK ME 1 HOUR 20 MINS ?????
If you really want to be picky my first van was speedlinerd by Tucker Pole syetms and they said dont roll it spray it on
Right ok then use a roller............he said combo..small/med van ..time is money and yes you will save about 10 mins with a roller still takes the same amount of time to dry so where do you save the time...........i quote from protectacote........." to get into all the cracks and crevices it is advised to dab it on or even paint it on with a brush.............depends on how well you want it to be covered ...............bit like using a roller to cut into the skirting and ceiling might save time...rubbish job but hey be as quick as you can i suppose that £5 job is wainting around the corner?
A forum is a usefull site to acquire knowledge and information from people who have either the knowledge or experience in the field of which the people on the forum are involved in.
Dab....roll..........spray.....i have seen and used all the ways it can be done they all do the same thing it will be protected whichever way you wish to do it but please that was how i did it ,it worked, and never again dismiss my advise in the way i have given it
Thank You

without starting an argument with you as I may have come across at havin a dig which i was not. Any painting you would do the corners etc first with a brush(dab) the main areas a roller. Hope that sorts that out Easy I was not knockin you m8 in any way, just dabing a swb relay would take ages roller is far quicker with same result (or less paint lines) ;)
-
now now i was only asking for advice :-*

ive just done mine it cost £53.95 + £7.50 post & package from a boat chandlers the number is 01353663095 he sent it the next day by courier,
i was told that i need a polyurethene roller, cud i find 1 cud i not after 6 days searching phoning etc
so i just painted it on 2 coats 1 at 7pm then 1 at 6.30am the next morning,
its a transit swb had a sml amount left from 4 ltrs.
it still stinks now 1 week later,
floor was rubbed down with med grit sandpaper
then wiped clean with water then left to dry
dnt use white spirit to prep the area it reacts with the paint then stops it curing,
just buy cheap brushes then throw each 1 away after each coat its cheaper than buying the thinners,

will be doing it in the morning, I am going to paint cracks etc then roll, if I come across a problem will give you a bell, thank yuo for the offer even if I dont take it ;) soon see how I get on I guess cant be as much of a pain in the a== as ply lining ::)
-
dnt use a standard roller sleeve becouse the glue that holds the sleeve on will react with the protectacote so i was told by the fella that sold me it
-
A quick thought to M.B.S i had two combos and i protectacoated both of them due to fact that their is a step down into the cab from the back of the van you must make sure you seal all the edges all the way around the back of the van and across the bulkhead needs extra attention if you dont then water will flood into the front of the cab belive me it is worth spening time sealing it all up properly.
