why are you ply lining and protectacoating ???????

you only need to protectacoat it  straight onto the inside floor...you plyline and dont completly cover the ply with protctorcoat you will have water underneath then youve spent time and money on both and its been a lost cause as the waters gone underneath rotting the meatal away?

fish tank heater sounds like a good idea, will ask my dad about that as he owns a few shops that cater for aquariums etc  ;)

Can't see any way of freezing 500ltr of water unless we are entering an ice age!
More chance of freezing on the pole first or maybe in the pump overnight. If it's that cold you wouldn't be going out. When your car washer jets freeze it's always in the smallest areas and not the tank ie the nozzles or the pipe.
