Title: And another please...
Post by: SonOfFormby on October 05, 2007, 05:43:42 pm
The problem I have with this one is, the W/C I bought the round from quoted £20, I am beginning to realise why I have lost so many of his customers >:(

£20 seems about right to me.

I'm not with you...do you think £20 is too cheap or too expensive?

£20 for the whole consevatory? How much do you charge for the sides as part of a normal clean?

The round I bought is really underpriced. It was £10 inc conservatory :o
I am not very experienced in this line of work, but £20 seems way too cheap, Its a crap job that noone wants to do, and the customer can't do.

I would want 20 just for the consevetory ( not roof )

That conservatory is 40 minutes top whack...trad. So I'd be quite happy getting £20 for 40 minutes of my time.

£10 for cons plus house is a no-no...!! You go skint charging like that!

40 mins just for the sides ::)

I have conservatories like that on my round and they takes aroung 15 mins max

Cmon lads, there are roughly 12 big panes and 12 little panes, how can that take 40 mins?

House and conservatory sides at £20 for a regular clean would be a good price for me. Any higher and they wouldn't have it done. However for a one off total conservatory clean with roof then yes £20 sounds cheap.
The house alone for a tenner seems reasonable.

No, I'm talking about sides and roof being 40 minutes...and 40 minutes is being generous.

how many windows does the house have???
and the state of that conservatory would take at least 15mins without the house 15mins you would have to be going some speed for about 24 windows half leaded

for the consevetory roof and sides first time I would want £60, luke

Bloody hell luke I wish you priced for me lol
I would charge 15 for the house and conserva but would be done all in except roof but all sills wiped in half hour
that seems fair to me trying to earn £20 - £30 an hour

That Conservatory would take me
Trad would take me 10 mins  max
wfp 5 mins

So if the house has averge amount of windows inc conservatory i would charge

£15 wfp inc conservatory
£18 traditional but missing out the window above consevatory

These people wom't pay big prices. What do you do when the previous W/C has just let the price stay low so long, they do not have any clue about the present rate of W/Cleaning. I don't want to work for peanuts and I know this job is sooooooo under priced at £10 for windows and conservatory, but what can I do, because if I give them a price I'd charge a new customer (£15 at least) that's such a rise they freak out and think you're trying to rip them off, when it iis a fair price at the moment IMHO.

Thanks

Then i agree 10 mins for side only is about right. The roof would take me 20-30 minutes because of ladder moves.

40 mins with the roof is really quick, and the the windows would take 10min no probs!!

lee i know this wont help but this i one of the reasons i would never buy a round of someone. The  only round i ever bought was a parade of 12 shops for £100 genarates £140 a month and it was cheap very cheap and the element of risk was low.

Yeah I paid a high price for this round (nearly 3 X its worth) and have lost what seems like about 30%, nearly all due to clicky/old/set in their ways/busybody types.
Lucliky with the price rises that have stayed and the new customers, I have 40 less calls and am only down £50 per month on the value of the round when I bought It.......And It did get me out of a job I hated too ::)

Spot on Simon. Sides wouldnt take long but the roof would be a pig of a job and take at least 40 mins.

House and conserv around £16-£20 seems a good price for monthly clean.

I tend to do bi-monthly.

I'd probably look for £30 but could be bated down to £25. Don't think I'd go any lower than that though.

Conservatory on its own?  £10 - £15 (depending on access round the other side...)

House + Conservatory £20 is about right...

Post by: Paul Coleman on October 05, 2007, 07:30:14 pm
Conservatory roof £30 - £35.
Conservatory sides £6 - £7.
House is hard to say as I can only see the back.  Maybe £12, maybe £15.  Depends what glass is on the sides too.

Conservatory sides = £10

Conservatory roof = £50

Looking through this thread, even though I price higher these days, I'm wondering if I'm still working too cheaply.
