Best thing for removing? Solvents? Rid a gum? Chewing gum Remover? 1001? ;D

Never actually had this before but would guess the solvents would be most appropriate but will of course bow to much the superior knowledge that will no doubt be offered.

Hi,

I usually try and scrape as much off as possible, then mobilise the rest with a gel type solvent and rinse it to death.

It can take several applications to completely remove it.

The trouble with dry cleaning soilvents is that it tends to spread the tar out and compound the problem.

pete, i cant believe you have not come across tar before, you post like you have been at it for about 20 years!!!  eco spotter from  solutions, takes off anything that is sticky, tar, gum, wax, paint etc, if you don't use it you are a loser,

hi justin, it's blazing at the moment, not meant as a pun, fed up with working 6 days a week, take it while we can eh? not strong just that tar is always in hallways etc, blue-tak in the bedrooms etc, eco is the best, i know that solvall and the others are good but i think eco is  the best, it is also safe for bitumen backed tiles etc.

Only been at it for 3 years but still never had tar before I know it's like saying I've never spotted rust but it just has'nt happened to me.

Whats the make up of eco spotter. Nick sent me some of their chew gum remover and I thought I might try a bit if that but I did iintially think Citrus gel as a couple of others have said. Looking at it in the morning so too late tp test with so will reply with results and if not that impressed with Nick's (solutions of course), citrus gel or rid a gum I'll get him to send me a freebie of that too.

booked and paid and then realised i had a previous in italy for a family wedding, my wife told me back in january about the wedding but didn't remind me, my fault of course, supposed to have the memory of an elephant.

No doubt eco is a splitter/magic water thing, personally i would stick with the solvents.

each to their own, i use eco all day long and it's fab, i  have no reason to push this product but i find it simply the best for anything 'sticky' or gum etc

amtech sell zap-it pete, its prob the best spotter i've used. pete on the tar use rid-a-gum it i'll sort it in no time, i used it yesterday on a flipping massive blob of gum & time'd it, 30 seconds & it was gone. forget about that eco- stuff. i've used ridi on a variety of gum's, wax's, sticky stuff & so forth. very impressed, i'm gonna get some more. have you sorted out course yet! pollen came out no prob's. custy very very happy. regards freshi

well done mate. Water pump on van went today so more probs. Costing me £300 plus no van til Weds. Got gear in freelander for now but that housebounds Mrs and kids. Did try to ring amtech today but no answer. Need big job to get out of trouble as it's all tight at mo. Maybe Gunny's tip will get me through.

Hi Pete,

I use prochems solvall spotter or POG (paint, oil and grease) remover by impact chemicals (woodbridge). As both solvent based use carefully on natural fibre & bitumen backed carpets.

For natural & bitumen backed try zap-it, excellent product also!
