Title: Delivery charges
Post by: stuart_clark on October 04, 2007, 08:41:53 am
I was in the process of purchasing a new portable from Ashbys yesterday! the Ninja I was looking to buy had no tools or hoses as I diddn't need anymore, the cost with a few extra toys was going to be £4300.00 inc vat
Then he told me that there was a delivery charge of £75.00 plus vat, I couldnt believe he had the cheek to ask for delivery charge as I was buying a machine worth over £4000

The week before last I made an apointment with a company to repair  or replace a pump. I thought this was firm as we agreed a time and he said I will book you in.

When I arrived after  an 85 mile trip he said I only booked you in to look at it and I would have to leave it.

Although anoyed I was not angry and being a flexiable person and that I was going away for a few  days I said well its been good to meet you as long as I get it back on Monday its fine bye me . When being told to leave it I was told the carriage would only be £17

When I got the Invoice the carriage was £50

Being reasonable  I do not mind as it came on a Pallet by Courier and I know that is a reasonble cost but I do not like bosses of Companies booking you in then letting a truckmount use your spot and then give you false information.

I do acept that the Company was not formed to await my call or have workshop staff available.

But it would have been good if I was told Yes Bring your machine we will look at it and then send it back he was aware of the distance I was traveling.

well guys I have cancelled the order! I might look more down the lines of a prowler! Steve how big is your fresh water tank in your van ? and do you find the Prowler a better truckmount than your previous machine ?

Stuart don't cut your nose of to spite your face yes i think £75 is a lot when you are laying £4000.00 but the ninja is a great machine if you want a porti. CAN YOU JUSTIFY SPENDING A LOT MORE ON A TRUCK MOUNT??  ??? Hope you get a good deal and keep us posted.

Currently have 400ltr tank but could go smaller.Yes it's miles better than the blazer I had before but that only cost me £800.Would not dream of going back to a portable too much like hard work.Used extracta, ninja and the eclipse which were good machines but t/m is the way to go.

If your determined to have the ninja arrange to have a courier collect it yourslf it will be cheaper.

I ordered 8 x 5ltr multipro from olympic cleaning, paid £16 Delivery and the total inc vat was £72.00.
Still a saving of £20.00 from the Prochem catalogue!!!!!

Forestdale in Mitcham Surrey give you 20% of Prochem products with freight free of £80 or more. So that may just beat Olympic but somebody else can do the maths coz I can't be bothered. Cleaned three suites yesterday (and a few carpets mixed in) and I am shattered today.

Pete,
cheers for that mate, always willing to ty new suppliers for chemicals. Will try next time!
3 suites in 1 day, do 2 sometimes dont think i could take 3 on without driving myself crazy.
Looks like your keeping busy, things are definately on the up. Sent Xmas letters to all my customers offering10% discount on all orders for Dec which are booked by Nov 15th and had a great response.
Seems that the pubs are finally spending money on cleaning now, 3 months on from the ban.

Never done 3 in a day before Mark and I don't think I will again. 2 has to be max I think.

Forestdale do accounts as well. Tell them I recommended them and that I used to be a partner for London & Surrey and they will sort you out

Hi John, it got ill, i didnt know how to fix it, fed up of throwing money at it, so sold it somone who knew what they were doing, must say the only think ive noticed that im missing sometimes is the heat.  Id have a TM again tomorow if it were possible but this is next best thing and i havent come across any noticable changes in end result or time taken on most jobs.

LOL that's Ashby's to a t.

Lost out on £4k for being greedy beggars.

They probably thought you were mug enough to pay that for the kit so they could try it on with postage.

In fact if they were smart and just put it in the price you would have it by now.

3k more and you got yourself a Prowler and great service

or speak to Matt at Cleansmart.

Only 3k don't sound much if you say it quick and tanks + new hoses no doubt etc etc.

When I took delivery of my ninja in 2005 it was practically thrown off the back of the lorry and a tub of powdered chemical  in a seperate box had a broken lid and it was all over the place.
