This has gotta be the quietest few weeks I've had for years. 2 jobs booked in this week. Nightmare!!!!!!! I been trading 10 years. In 2 Yellow Pages. In Thompson. Reminder cards sent. Leaflets done. Business cards everywhere. Fridge magnets given out. Thought BT had cut me off ;D

But the Chrismas rush is just around the corner.
Have you changed anything lately that may explain why you are quiet.
To be honest when people think there bank is going to go bust they keep there money in there pocket.

Im the opposite exept today, but did have a lull a few weeks ago, keep doing the marketting and it will come, im sure.

everybody getting geared up for xmas,i would exspect,this last week has been quitetier than the same time last year,it won;t last long.

Funny, had a full week last week - quiet this week. Sent pre-xmas clean letters to all existing customers and been leafletting. Whilst leafletting got pulled into custy's home for quote - big job and booked in for Tues. I think you just have to keep plodding away at the marketing.

Trick is to get your pricing right as well as the marketing. Then when you are quiet you can go out and do something you enjoy and not worry.

After reading Pro Dry's post I think it's time to set up a website while it's quiet.
Still waiting for the rush.
I've been collecting excuses from here to tell the Mrs why we can't have yet another holiday this year.
It's always quiet in the New Year.
Yes, there are a lot of bank holidays around this time, but it will pick up in the summer.
Well, with the weather we've been having this summer, it's understandable no one wants their carpets cleaning.
It's the calm before the storm, it picks up as the year goes on.
Of course the sub prime situation is making people think twice about spending money.
I think people are holding off nearer to Christmas myself...blah blah blah.
Recently she has been talking to me about getting a nice safe, regular JOB!
It's OK though I have faith in me.

At least we have some sort of control over our own destiny :-\
I`m quite quiet this week and I`m enjoying it. I don`t even want the phone to ring today.
Maybe I`v been doing this job for to long.

I understand the illusion of 'employment', couldn't work for anybody again anyway not since the office siege incident. (joking)
There is no way on earth I'm giving up, I've purposely burnt all bridges. It's just that sometimes partners don't understand some things can take years to bear fruit and it's worth a bit of struggling.
Having said that I am far happier now than I've been in a good five years despite earning a huge amount less at the moment.

seems to vary year by year for me, last year very quiet, the 2 years before that i stopped answering the phone halfway through december!!

Last Christmas was a little busier, but I had only started proper in the summer. I think what you do ultimately has more bearing on results.
I think the wide variance in results despite consistent effort gets most people down though and it's only natural to look for a reason outside their realm.
