I just noticed there largest size is 2'' 50 mm?

Will the fittings from a waste pipe?like the type under your sink and available from all DIY stores not fit them as they are the same size? if they will fit, you can also get a fitting to fit inside it for a washing machine or dish washer, has to cost less than a fiver.

Just tried the lid of a 25ltr drum and it doesnt fit it has a different thread on it.
I have also just tried a 50mm pipe and that fitted but the fittings I was on about above are too small.

There is a place around by me that use these tanks, so I'll pop in there and ask them for the lids that come already fitted to the full tank, there must be a way we could make something for a lot less cost.

Hi Jeff. The lid on an IBC is about 9 inches accross!

This adaptor is for the base of the tank. No lid is fitted at the base as there is a tap there.

You have to trust me. These are the fittings you need and they cost £14+VAT+Delivery when I bought them.

The one on ebay looks home made to my eye. Also it is reducing the bore of the hose to 1/2" which is going to make your flow really slow for gravity feed.

paypal would be fine. stevekennedy@tiscali.co.uk

Make sure you include your address.

1" PVC hose fits perfect. You can get it from Machine Mart by the metre or loads of other places. The best type to go for if you can get it is the crushproof type as it never kinks. I went for the PVC stuff for my submersible. Not the best but not too bad. Just have to watch for kinks.

I wont be using the tap that much as  i have a sub pump which wil go into the lid, i wud just like to take the odd bucket of pure water out here and there.

but heres a link to just the blanked off lid you can see the other side of it looks bigger than a 25litire lid.

:o :o ;D ;D I'm not on about the top of the tank I'm on about the bottom, when these tanks are delivered full, they come with a small lid/cap down on the tap section, these are normally thrown away when they begin to use the tank.

If you can get your hands on the lid/cap then you can make your own for less than a fiver. Trust me  ;D
I have a job to do tomorrow where they use IBC tanks, I'll ask about these caps and see if I can pick some up?

The one on ebay does look home made, but a tap as in the picture,  fit it to the lid/cap hey preso your making a good profit as the taps you can buy from screwfix for less than a fiver, nice little proffit, he's making.

Dave I want to do the same as you, my boss uses my water for her Iron and to wash the car (got her trained well  ;D ;D)
The lid/cap is bigger, the 25ltr ones wont fit, I just tried one.

I bought 2 brand new ones. No Lids!

Maybe the lids are put on by whoever is filling the tank with chemical?

Ebay site looks gen enough but the size looks way too small. ALso, the fittings I have in front of me are very heavy duty. Maybe overkill for what you are needing.

Steve you probablly do have good quality ones? I'm not disputing it, I just don't agree on the prices there charging us.

The tanks arrive at this site I'm going to tomorrow, with stuff for washing lorries with, if they come with caps on, I'll make my own.

I can't see empty tanks coming with lids/caps, if you look at the cap on ebay, it looks brand new with the seal still intact.

I think you will have trouble stopping leaks when the tank is full. There is a fair amount of pressure backed up. I wouldn't want to come home and find my garage flooded out. I think these caps are to keep dust out mate. Not to cope with the pressure of 1ton of water. I could be wrong though. I am only a window cleaner after all.

haha at the boss jeff ;) actully thought u ment ur boss then.

well i will let u all no what its like when it comes. the bit about it holding 1 tun of water i agree lol doesnt look like it will take that amount but. when its not being used it wont be holding in 1tone because of the normal big tap (standard) that comes with the ibc tank if u understand what am saying.

Hi Alistair

It's not a cap but rather what they call an "IBC take off". It converts the open outlet of an IBC into a hosetail.

These guys should have them:

Saw this yesterday...

IBC's full of chemical. Caps in place. Pretty sure these are to keep dust out as there is a tap on IBC's to stop the flow.
