How much does a course like this cost John and what are the benefits?
Title: Re: SAJ

I paid £150, you go in the morning and do a multipal choice paper , even before you have had any training.
Then the rest of the day they go through the questions that you got wrong. Then you take the test.
Then you have to drive  some machines, just to show them you can . Then thats it .You get a IPAF card with your pic on , and a certificate

The benifits so far for me have been that on some jobs you can use the machines they have on site because you are IPAF trained.
Also if you go on a job that needs a cherry picker you are trained to use one , some sites wont let you control one unless you have a card.
Also it saves you having to pay for a operator

If I decide to take mine it will also be in Taunton, Why are you not allowed to operate a self propelled boom lift and a scissor lift cherry pickers? is this a different course?

Cheers Guy's, may be well worth me getting, Westland helicopters is just around the corner, they have a few in there, plus lots of buildings with cladding, There are also a couple of hire centers around here that hire them out, I could alway stick my name down as an operator.

What sort of price can you get as an operator?

The chap that trained us said he charged £500 a day to be an operater. I am now going to give up window cleaning and become a full time operater ;D I'm not going to be too greedy so my going rate will be £400 a day  ;D

I have just done a job in Leeds, and paid for a operator as it was a very big machine, and I had not used anything as big  . They charged me £150 per day for him
