Title: Are we missing a trick here?
Post by: Londoner on September 30, 2007, 11:11:59 am
I have just come back from cleaning one of my Sunday morning regulars. A detatched house in Rickmansworth but not a particularly big detached house. I clean them every 8 weeks.
Since the last time I was there they have had the outside of the house painted and there are paint spots all over the windows everywhere. Apart from that it looks like a good job to me.
After I had finished I was chatting to the lady as I packed up and commented on the paint spots. She told me that she had employed a local company to do the job but two Lithuanians turned up to do the actual work. They had the house painted in two days.

Being a bit nosey I asked how much the job cost. She said £1,200 and that was the cheapest of three quotes.

Now its not that hard painting the outside of a house with masonery paint and a roller and £1200 sounds like good money to me.

Its not exactly window cleaning but its in the same sort of area of work and a lot better money than some of the jobs I do for people.

Has anyone got any thoughts on house painting? I remember a while back watching two blokes painting a house with a spray gun. Their name was something like Tuff-cote if my memory serves me correctly.

So why aren't we painting houses for that sort of money?

Because we are window cleaners, not painters?  ;)
