i always give oaps a discount, no matter what there status is, counsil house or mansion, but now i am begining to think twice about it, or is it starting to annoy me, they have a large house , i give them £2 of the original price, anyway, last time i was there they where delighted to show me their new lawn cutting motor >:( need i say anymore,

No discounts from me but I do go a bit soft when I quote for some of the old girls I suppose. Its a hard one because some retired people are rolling in it. Loads that I go to have cleaning ladies and gardeners as well as a window cleaner.
Others pay to have their windows cleaned even though they probably can't see whether they are clean or not. Its just something they have always done.

without sounding tight i dont offer discount to anyone. they dont get discount in sainsburys...so why should i give them discount no matter who they are...
it might sound a little tight, but im running a buisness...not a charity

I don't do OAP discounts.
I did it a few times at the beginning but stopped doing it when a couple of them took liberties. In fact when one of them asked me why I wouldn't do a discount any more I told him that it was because I didn't want to be poor when I'm old. It sounds a harsh response but if you knew what he put me through you would understand that by just using those words, I showed a lot of restraint.

I don't mind taking there wheelie bin out, or catching there escaped dog thats running around there garden like a cruise missile, Hell I might even do a small kitchen window inside for free (well with a free cupa) but discounts is a no no, some of them have more money than me :'(

That comment is bang on the money, why give a discount. Ask yourself this: you are down on your luck your 68 years old you walk into a shop for a packet of headache tablets, will they give a discount to you?
I help them get in a bin even make them a cup of tea if they cant do that on there own, but discount nope.

I'll tell you all something I have noticed about the OAP's and that is quite a lot of them put there own prices up by the odd £1 a lot of them don't want to be treated like a charity case and insist on paying the going rate,
I had one do that to me on friday, I call her the sweety lady, she always insists I take an apple and some sweets for me, and even though the boss is working on another property, I have to take the same for her.
-
That's so true.
I've two old ladies in a street where the houses are £7.
One gives me £9, and the other one insists on giving me £10!
If I do 2 inside windows she insists on giving me an extra fiver! :o
The others in the road think I'm charging them too much already!

Do Tescos give discount to oap's? No so why give discounts to old folk remember they got more money then most as usaully mortgage free. at the end of the day we all go to work to earn the pennys.
-
to be honest, i would be a bit embarest to tell them they are not getting the discount, any new oap customers i will charge the normal rate, i am just going to have to continue the discount until they go to heaven what other way can i put it ;D
-
i have 3 underpriced oaps, they are always the last houses i do as i cant be bothered working for a reduced rate,so in the long run them asking for a disount put them bottom of my priority list-one is £12 when i quoted £20-ive learnt my lesson no haggling no matter what the circumstances are

I dont give discounts to OAP's but I often do a little extra if they are nice people ie one custy I clean her car windows with the wfp (30 seconds) and another I give her conservatory a quick wipe if its the last job of the day. That takes about 5 minutes but is worth it for the smile that says 'thanks for being nice to me and not ripping me off just because Im an OAP'
