...right i havent needed much water the last few days so i havent paid much attention to it. but then today i thought i better have a look and id made 100 litres in a week!!
it was dripping out like every 10 secs. its a 200gpd unit
so hmmm, check presure before pre filters, fine, taps fine. flying out as normal
check pressure after pre fitlers and its driping out, and as we all know pre filters only work under pressure dont they...
sooo, take all pre filters apart, clean all out, check theyre al running fine, and they were. until i got to the end one... it just stopped the water with no pressure, so baffled i started to unscrew it and it started coming flying out of the out hole
so i just couldnt think what to do, and as you can guess getting annoyed. so in the end i decided to take off one of the big rubber washers that were on the third filter, screwed it back up, hey presto, flying out!! never seen my water produce so quick
what on earth could do this? it was as if the filter was just too big with the washers on and blocked the water going anywhere
any divuldge?

I assume that this set-up had been working OK originally. If so, the only thing I can think of is that with age the filter had swollen slightly which was just enough to push the rubber washer across the outlet hole. For reference, you should only have one rubber washer on the top of the filter.
-
oh right? didnt know you should only have one
and also i only changed filters a couple of weeks ago
cheers alex, i think ill go take the washer off the oher filter, might speed it up even more :)
-
There should be a rubber washer top and bottom of the filter, not two at the top. This will probably be your problem.
-
oh no
i had one at top and one at bottom
i have taken off the one at the bottom and it seems to have cured the problem
...

Alex that RO unit that you are out of stock with i would like to buy please, can you tell me when i could have it,the one with all the wording on and instructions.
-
oh no
i had one at top and one at bottom
i have taken off the one at the bottom and it seems to have cured the problem

Must be the design of your replacement filters that they only need one at the top!
Most RO's have no rubber filters on the first sedimentary filter, one rubber washer on the top of the second carbon cartridge but two rubber washers (one top and one bottom) on the last pre-filter. The other thing to think about is did you fit the last pre-filter (the one you are having problems with) the wrong way up?
-
Just another thought, once in a blue moon you can have a faulty pre-filter that blocks the flow rate. The reason it's cured when you remove the rubber ring is that the water is no longer going through the filter but over the top of it and out the other end. Try putting back in your old filter you took out (if you haven't thrown it away) with the rubber washer top and bottom and see what it's like.
-
yes gutted, i threw the old one away.
hang on...have i done something wrong...sediment filter first, blue in the middle and the green at the end
from what you have said here
"first sedimentary filter, one rubber washer on the top of the second carbon cartridge but two rubber washers (one top and one bottom) on the last pre-filter."
the blue one does have 2 washers. and if the green is supposed to be in the middle then yes the green would only have one?
-
The colour doesn't matter so much. The middle one should be a ribbed white plastic cartridge type filter and this has a rubber washer at the top. The third filter is a different type of carbon filter and usually has a diamond pattern mesh round the filter to let water through the filter which is why it needs a washer top and bottom, so that the water goes through the filter and mesh.

Your second blue coloured filter in your last picture should be on the end. What have you got to fit to your middle filter as you need one of the Granulated Carbon Filter 10 you first pictured.
-
i have this in the middle

The colour doesn't matter so much. The middle one should be a ribbed white plastic cartridge type filter and this has a rubber washer at the top. The third filter is a different type of carbon filter and usually has a diamond pattern mesh round the filter to let water through the filter which is why it needs a washer top and bottom, so that the water goes through the filter and mesh.
The first one should always be a Sediment filter.
The second should be a Granular activated carbon filter. (http://www.ro-man.com/shop/images/GAC%20Filter-100.jpg)
The third should be a some kind of carbon block filter (doesn't matter which colour).(http://www.ro-man.com/shop/images/CBR2.jpg)
or this

Having said all of the above, your RO will no doubt work fine with two Carbon block filters on it, just remember to get the right ones next time.

thank you for your help alex...i think ill order a new second one
