Hi
Im thinking about upgrading the pump on my Prochem Steempro Powermax. Its currently the standard 100psi Flojet.
Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative? Im not looking for a massive increase and would be happy with either a 150psi or 200psi unit.
Ive had a look on the internet but didnt really know what I was looking for. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks

Hi John, I noticed at carpex there were a number of replacement pumps on the master clean stand. They looked well made and went all the way up to 500psi :o I dont have any idea on price but may be worth a phone call.
They have a web site which you will be able to find using google.

John,
A & M in Watford have got me a 150 psi pump ffrom America for installation in my Powermax. I'm waiting to drop the machine off for installation this week. I will let you know if it is successful.

Nigel,
have you had the upgraded pump motor fitted to your Recoil?
If so any comments?
Best wishes,
John.
-
John,
No I haven't - so no comment on that matter ;D

John,

Nigel
have you had the upgraded pump motor fitted to your Recoil?
is this a more powerful pump for the recoil ?

Chris,
The pump-head is the same but the motor is an improved, induction motor which should be more durable. It is also a little quieter.

Does anything above 100psi make much difference to the final result?
We've got two extracta exels working at a very max of 100 psi with no complaintsand a book full of contented customers.
Actually it's very rare that I use a machine at maximum pressure anyway unless its really bad then I prespray anyway.
It would be interesting to hear what the benefits were.

Lionheart,
When set to 100psi your pumps will be delivering something in the order of 80psi when the trigger valve is open (dependant on jetting)
In simple terms, try cleaning a concrete path with a garden hose, then a pressure washer.
That is not a true comparison but does indicate the power of a jet of water to dislodge soil. Being able to deliver water at a greater flow-rate also enables the same or greater flushing to be achieved on a shorter time-scale.
Whilst there are other factors to be taken into consideration, such as balancing the water put down to the recovery potential, that is the short answer.

New 150 psi pump fitted today to the Powermax. I will probably use it tomorrow so will let you know how it is.

How did you get on with the new pump then Nigel?
Any difference in the results compared to your last one?

A question for the old pro's regarding the use of machines with higher PSI.
I have a concern when cleaning wiltons, axminsters or the dreaded belguim wilton :o
Will higher preasures force moisture into the Jute???
I have successfully cleaned well anchored BW using HWE with 100psi and rapid wand action plus plenty of dry strokes, but with my new machine with 500PSI on its way i'm not too confident??What do you guys think???
Many thanks Paul

Different goal posts, different techniques. It would be reasonable to presume that the new wand's jetting has been set up to suit the machines specification. But don't take it for granted. Trial and error will be the order for the first few carpets.
Safe and happy cleaning :)
