why do people(mainly women)moan bout working in the rain?.i use wfp but the slightest bit of rain and i stop as im worried what people will say.

Ignore them with a laugh, if you dont respond then they have nothing to argue with. If they are determined then give them an explanation and explain that your service is yearly and in alll weather conditions, Luke

i also stop in the rain, well anything more than a fine drizzle
i know the customers are not happy about it, ive spoken to 5 in the last month who are not happy with a guy doing them in the rain

if i have started on a job i carry on if not then either wait for it to stop or if its set in i go home and go back the next dry day

I think there is a whole mindset that needs to be changed here. I gave a customer the "explanation lettter" last month, teliing him that next month I would be wfp. I did his windows this week and I got all the questions that had been explained in the letter (which he had clearly not read). It wasn't raining, but his wife came out to complain that there was dripping on the downstairs windows from those above. I explained that I hadn't cleaned the downstirs yet as i was waiting for the upstairs to stop dripping. Her answer? " We'll see". Well the customer is always right, but did them and checked them. All perfect. If she complains again, she's an ex-customer.

It's not up to you to changes "mindsets". ::)
It's the customers choice.
You won't get results as good in the rain, regardless of the greedy crap written on here, and you won't see the benefits anyway.
If you tried to clean my windows in the rain, I'd tell you to sod off. >:(
I'm often hearing people complain about window cleaners turning up in the rain.
It's their choice.
They are your boss's, and your source of income.
Keep them happy.
Besides, if you can't make enough in the dry weather, then you're doing something wrong.

You said with all the bad weather this summer you only lost four days. If that's not working in the rain I'd like to know what is. You've got your nose in the trough along with the rest of us.
What's greedy about wanting to carry on working?

would you take your car into the car wash, or get it valeted, on a rainy day, i rest my case, ;D

I agree with you squeaky on this,you should easily be able to earn enough without working in the rain.3 days you`ve earnt enough the other 2 days should be a bonus or your pricing is bad or your a slow worker.

when i worked on my own i never used to really work in rain but now there are, wages, full rounds to keep on schedule, overheads etc etc...
we need to work in the rain, never had a problem and we guarntee all our work to the customer! no-one even bats an eyelid at us now

we are offering a service to customers and it is up to them if you can clean
in the rain or not. As i see it you do not bite the hand that feeds, besides you should be earning enough anyway without working in the rain, best pt job i ever had.
ps thats not to say i wont clean if i know they are out though ;D

There was only about 4 total wash-out days here.
Don't know where you live, but if I were you I'd move.

I try to condition my custies to accept it if I need to work in the rain as it's my livelyhood, but I don't force the issue. If they really don't like it then I don't do it. Mind you I don't go back the following day if it's outta my way. Far as I know I've only lost one custy in thirty years because of working on what he thought was going to be a rainy day. Turned out to be a dry one in the end but it was his loss not mine.

I clean in the rain, also never had a problem. Had a customer today say, this is the first time in ages you have cleaned when its not raining. I dont clean when its bucketing down, or when its raining and blowing a gale.

I always clean in the rain, I can tell some customers do not like it, but it has to be done. I expalin that rain does not dirty the windows and it does'nt
I clean lots of houses in the rain when customers are not in. When they arrive home its all dried up and they are none the wiser and there windows are perfect. When I started cleaning in the rain I did a few experiments on my own house and girlfriends parents houses (they have a big conservatory with lots of glass, leaded pains at the top). I cleaned both houses in the pouring rain and the windows are spotless. I have sat inside the conseravtory and there are no marks anywhere due to the rain, also my girlfriends mom is the most knit picking person in the world and she cannot see any marks either.
Also: When it rains on your car windows they are not dirty when it dries.
A particular house I cleaned only twice was cleaned both times in the pouring rain, the customers were out at the time and none the wiser that the work was done in wet conditions. It rained so hard I was soaked through. On both occassions when I collected the money they commented on how clean the windows were. I turned up to clean them a third time, but this time they were in. I was told before I got out of the van 'not to clean them in this weather'. I cancelled them immeadiately. You have better things to than to clean windows 'when customers fancy it'. My mom's window cleaner has a good line when people ask him not to clean in the rain, I have used it a couple of times and it works quite well. If anyone says not to clean there windows because its raining, he says 'no problem!'. He does not clean them again and after a few months they see him in the street and ask why he has not cleaned for a while and he replies: 'Well I was going to clean them, but it looked like it might rain so I did'nt bother'. They look pretty stupid afterwards :)

when I first cleaned windows, it was in the days before we had sqeegies. You could not clean in the rain without leaving streaks, so nobody did.
Now we have WFP, and cleaning in the rain is fine if your doing plastic conservatories. What if it's heavy rain? the water runs down the dirty walls and drips onto the glass. Now if this is OK, why bother to wait for the drips to stop, before doing the bottoms when it's not raining? Just a thought, Dai?

if its more than drizzle and the customers there i consult them first. like squeaky said they pay your wages, a little consideration can go a long way.
ive never been turned away yet when customer has been consulted

i done two first cleans last friday as it was chucking it down, one was filthy,
went back in the evening and i couldnt believe the result, they were sparkling,
customers were very happy,
now been out and purchased my waterproofs,
bring on the winter
